She couldn't help thinking he genuinely liked her. However, how long could this affection last? Her mother must have believed her father loved her deeply when she married him. However, his heart held not a shred of affection for her mother. What had been unforgettable love had become a joke with the passage of time.

Hadn't she also been in a loving relationship with Sean Stevens? She'd thought she'd found someone worthy of her, but he'd withdrawn and distanced himself.

"Do you think I'm just toying with you, too?" Jason asked suddenly.

Grace was stunned, speechless. That thought had crossed her mind repeatedly. Even if he wasn't toying with her now, how long would his so-called affection last? She lacked confidence. Maybe a year, two years… or just a few months.

"Tell me, what must I do to convince you I'm not playing games?" He stared at her. The words, barely a whisper from his thin lips, almost made her jump off the sofa. "Why don't we get married, then? Will that prove I'm serious?"

Grace's heart skipped a beat. "Get married?" Was he kidding? How could he utter those words so casually?

"Yes, get married," Jason said confidently. "I never want another woman. You're the only woman I'll ever want. So, what's wrong with marrying you?"

"But…"

"Or do you have no intention of marrying me, Sis?" His fingertips brushed lightly against her cheek.

Bewildered, she felt her heart race. Her cheek, touched by his fingertips, burned. She'd never considered marrying him. Their relationship had begun so suddenly! She'd never even imagined they'd become boyfriend and girlfriend.

Her expression revealed her lack of consideration. Jason felt a mix of laughter and tears. Any other woman would have fantasized about marrying him long ago. Many women had pursued him, hoping to marry into the Reed family. She, however, hadn't even considered it.

"Didn't you agree to date me on the condition that we'd marry? Or are you going to play with my feelings and discard me, Sis?" he asked, his bright, amorous eyes fixed on her.

Grace nearly choked. "Playing with his feelings" none of those words seemed to fit him, let alone "discard him."

"Or are you already thinking of breaking up with me?" He pressed.

Stunned, she opened her mouth to speak, but his lips covered hers before a word escaped. He kissed her hard, forcing her mouth open and silencing her.

"Umm…" She instinctively tried to pull away.

However, his fingers held her chin, preventing her from moving.
