Chapter 396
Grace's heart overflowed with joy. His trust made her incredibly happy.
Jason stared at her, continuing to mutter, "Believe me, if I'd met you sooner, if I'd known I'd love you this much, I wouldn't have let you suffer."
Grace was stunned. Was he referring to the malicious attacks she endured in prison to appease him?
"Yes," she whispered.
Regardless of their past, perhaps it was time to let go. To get along with him, she needed to overcome her fear.
After dinner, as the servants cleared the table, Grace suddenly remembered something. "By the way, do you know any experts in cochlear implants?"
"Why do you ask?" Jason inquired.
"Kyla's son, Nelson, might need one someday. I wondered if we could find him an expert. Kyla can only afford the cheapest implant now, but could we get him a better one?" Grace asked anxiously. She'd researched online and knew the significant price difference between good and average implants. Kyla only had enough for one; two would be ideal.
"Funny you'd ask my help for an outsider before addressing your own problems," Jason quipped.
"It's fate. I like Nelson. He can't hear, so he can't speak. A cochlear implant would let him live like a normal child," Grace explained. Seeing him use sign language always pained her.
Her affection for Nelson made her want to help him.
"You like children?" Jason asked.
"They're not bad. I didn't think I liked them much before, but then…" Her voice trailed off. Her hand, resting at her side, unconsciously touched her lower abdomen. A flash of pain crossed her eyes.
"What's wrong?" His eyes glistened; her pain stung him. "Tell me if you have any problems. I'll handle even the biggest ones."
She wished the pain would leave her eyes.
"Are you serious about dating me?" Grace asked, looking up at him.
"Yes," he replied resolutely.
"But I…" She took a deep breath and bit her lip, struggling to reveal a deeply buried truth. "My body may be infertile. If you're with me, you may never have children."
Her body was so damaged it might not be able to sustain a pregnancy.
