Chapter 401

Grace didn't think she could sleep with Jason beside her, but she fell asleep instantly. His presence seemed to soothe her.

The next morning, she awoke to see Jason in a white shirt, buttoning his cuffs as he approached. "Are you awake?" he asked.

"Yes," she replied, blushing. She hadn't washed her face, brushed her teeth, or combed her hair.

"Did you sleep well? I did," he said, bending down. His hands rested on the bed's edge, his dark eyes meeting hers.

Their gazes nearly level, Grace felt flustered. She subconsciously leaned back, but his hand gently but firmly grasped her. The distance between them vanished.

"Couldn't sleep well, Sis?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. "Great!" he said, kissing her cheek naturally. "Come downstairs for breakfast when you're ready."

"Okay," she answered, blushing.

After washing up, Grace found Jason waiting at the table. Breakfast included both Chinese and Western dishes.

"What do you want to eat?" Jason asked.

"Porridge, please," Grace replied. A servant brought her a bowl of porridge, appetizers, and drinks.

While eating, Grace glanced up and caught Jason looking at her.

"What?" she murmured.

"Nothing. You're cute when you eat," he said, lifting a finger to brush a grain of rice from her lip. The rice adhered to his finger. He then subtly licked it off his fingertip.

He was seducing her in broad daylight! Grace's face flushed crimson. She'd been blushing more and more lately. She never realized a man could be so attractive doing something so simple.

"It's sweet," he smiled.

She quickly buried herself in her porridge, afraid to look at him again.

After breakfast, Jason took a tie from a servant and handed it to Grace. "Tie it for me," he said.

Stunned, but with the tie already in her hand, Grace felt conflicted. She'd helped Sean Stevens with his tie before; he'd even joked about being tied to her for life. But how easily people convinced themselves of such things! It was all self-deception.
