Chapter 412
A man of Jason's high status probably had endless temptations. However, she now knew his feelings for her were real. Could this relationship last?
“I’ll never fall in love with anyone else. You’re the only one I love,” said Jason. He muttered, half-eagerly, half-coquettishly, “Therefore, if I make a mistake, I hope you’ll forgive me.”
“Yes,” replied Grace.
As she spoke, she felt him hug her tightly. “Grace, don’t forget what you promised me today. Don’t ever forget it!”
It felt as if she had promised something of the utmost importance, something irrevocable.
In the bathroom, Grace looked at her blushing cheeks. Even though some time had passed since she and Jason had hugged and kissed in the living room, the blush remained. Jason seemed a little strange tonight, though she couldn't quite place it. Perhaps she was simply surprised by his sudden declaration of love.
Thinking of his words, Grace felt sweetness gushing from her heart. Even in the mirror, the corners of her mouth were upturned. How long had it been since she felt this way?
After showering, she emerged from the bathroom in her pajamas to find Jason sitting on the edge of her bed, looking through the photo album she’d left on her bedside table. She had recently bought the album to hold photos salvaged from an old, scorched album. A few photos were badly burned, but she’d carefully cleaned them and preserved them.
“You were so cute when you were younger,” Jason said, looking up at her.
“I’ll consider myself beautiful if you compliment me like that again,” Grace quipped.
“You’re beautiful to me,” he said, staring intently. “There’s no woman more beautiful than you.”
Grace felt the blush return. Sparking eyes fixed on Jason, she was speechless for a moment.
“By the way, are all the photos of you as a child in here?” Jason asked casually.
“I suppose so,” she said, after a moment's thought. “Back then, taking photos wasn’t as convenient as it is now. Besides, after my mother died, I took fewer photos.”
Jason smiled meaningfully. “Then you’d better keep these photos safe. Don’t carry the album everywhere, or you’ll lose them.”
“Yes, I know,” she replied.
He set down the album, stretched out his long arm, and pulled her into his embrace. He inhaled her scent. “Did anything happen today?” he asked in a low voice.
Grace froze, thinking of the noontime argument and the video of her and Brian that had been posted online.
