Chapter 441
After Grace finished speaking, she had no intention of further debating with Andrea Schwartz. She informed her nurse and they proceeded to the next station, leaving Andrea Schwartz behind. Andrea glared spitefully at Grace's retreating back. Turning around, she found herself under the scrutinizing gaze of her colleagues. She smiled sheepishly and rejoined the queue, feeling defeated. Despite her efforts, she still hadn't discovered how Grace could afford a VIP package.
After completing her check-ups, Grace returned to Jason.
"You're done?" Jason asked.
"Yes, but some reports won't be ready until this afternoon," Grace replied.
"Then let's have breakfast. You haven't eaten anything since this morning," Jason offered.
"Okay." Grace left the hospital with Jason.
"Where do you want to eat?" he asked.
"Let's find a place nearby," she replied. It was only around 9:00 a.m.; most food stalls hadn't yet closed up.
"Okay." He smiled, taking her hand as they walked toward the nearby stalls.
Grace saw shaobing, youtiao, and douhua being sold. She craved them, saying, "Why don't we eat here? I haven't had these in ages."
He nodded. Grace ordered from the stall owner, then turned to Jason. "What do you want?"
"I'll have the same," he said, wanting to try the food she craved.
A set of shaobing, youtiao, and douhua had been a regular breakfast for Grace. However, due to inflation, the set now cost seven dollars. After her release from prison, she'd avoided such stalls; seven dollars for breakfast was a luxury she couldn't afford then. She usually kept her breakfast under two dollars.
"By the way, after the hospital, can you take me to my rented apartment?" Grace said suddenly.
"Why?" Jason asked.
"I need to pick up some things and discuss terminating the lease with the landlord." Leaving the apartment unoccupied wasn't ideal. She'd planned to return, so she'd never cancelled the lease. Now, with her serious relationship with Jason, she wanted to save money by ending the tenancy.
"Let's go after breakfast; your reports aren't ready until the afternoon," Jason suggested.
