“Then I guess he’s going to lose all his money,” Brian said. He glanced toward a figure surveying the banquet hall. “She’s here. Should I introduce you?”

Jason’s eyes followed Brian’s gaze; his lips curved into a smile. “Evelyn?”

“Do you know her?” Brian asked, surprised. Evelyn and Jason seemed unconnected.

“Sort of,” Jason replied meaningfully. “If you care about this new girlfriend, don’t let her cause trouble. If she does, even you won’t be able to protect her.”

Brian’s almond-shaped eyes narrowed slightly. “Did she offend you?”

Jason replied, “Do you think she’d still be standing there if she had?”

Jason then turned and left. Evelyn spotted Brian and hurried over.

“Brian!” she exclaimed.

Upon entering the banquet hall, she’d seen many public figures she only knew from television, including A-list celebrities. For a minor actress like her, it was almost unbelievable. She knew this was all because of Brian Hart.

“You could have called me when you arrived. I would have picked you up,” Brian said, gently tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear.

Evelyn felt as though she were dreaming. To be with such a prominent figure in the entertainment industry… Brian was considered the crown prince of the industry, capable of making anyone a star. Her own career had recently taken an unexpected turn thanks to his favor. The production crew, including the lead actor, director, and staff, now treated her with utmost respect.

This was a feeling she’d never known before. Women in the industry were rarely treated as equals; it was very much a boys' club. This sense of power and recognition was intoxicating.

“Didn’t I come and find you myself?” Evelyn smiled sweetly, taking his arm. “By the way, I saw so many first-rate celebrities today. I’m so lucky! I’ve never seen so many big stars before. I don’t know when I’ll be like them.”

“It’s not difficult. I’ll arrange a TV series and several variety shows for you. Then you can pick any script you like,” Brian said casually.

Evelyn was stunned. She’d struggled to get on a single variety show, let alone several!

“Then… what’s my role?” she asked, bewildered.

“The lead, of course. Don’t you like that?”

“No, I… I like it very much.” A wonderful opportunity had fallen into her lap. She was speechless.

“Brian, why… why are you so good to me?” Evelyn whispered.

Brian smiled faintly, his fingers gently caressing her lips. Evelyn’s face flushed. Good heavens, there were still people around! But she hesitated to push his hand away, knowing that such a public rebuke could jeopardize her future prospects.

“Why am I so good to you? Because your lips are very beautiful, and I like them very much,” he murmured.
