Chapter 95
Evelyn was a little confused. She hadn't expected Brian to be attracted to her. But regardless, this was her lucky break. She had to win Brian Hart over and become the most popular actress. She could even marry into wealth and live a completely different life!
At that moment, Evelyn envisioned a bright future. However, she failed to notice that, while the man before her smiled, his smile wasn't genuine.
"By the way, do you know Jason Reed?" Brian suddenly asked.
Evelyn shook her head. How could she possibly know someone like Jason?
Brian pursed his lips. "Don't get into trouble. If you offend him, I might not be able to protect you."
Of course, the more important question was whether he even wanted to protect her. If it was merely a matter of convenience, he wouldn't go against Jason Reed. A substitute… Brian's eyes seemed clouded.
After searching for so many years, how many substitutes would he have to go through to quell his desires?
Before the engagement ceremony, Sean sought out Jason, saying, "Mr. Reed, it's an honor to have you attend our event."
"I'll naturally be at your engagement party," Jason replied, his words hinting at something more. "Speaking of which, breaking up with Grace beforehand wasn't a bad move. She's given up on you. Had you not done so, she might still be pursuing you today."
Sean was embarrassed, unsure how to respond.
"Oh yes, how long will your sister be hospitalized this time?" Jason asked casually.
"One month," Sean replied, a chill running down his spine. "But I'm afraid it will take six months for her wound to fully heal."
He knew how his sister had been injured, but he had to pretend otherwise.
"Then keep her home for the next six months to recuperate," Jason said flatly.
"Of course," Sean quickly agreed. "I'll ensure my parents care for Zoe and keep her at home."
Sean's ability to read situations was one of his greatest strengths. That's why he'd broken up with Grace after her accident. That's why he didn't dare to pry into his sister's situation.
"Alright, I'll leave after your engagement ceremony. Grace is waiting for me," Jason said.
Sean no longer believed Jason's attendance was solely due to his relationship with the Atkinson family. He felt Jason was afraid—afraid he and Grace might have a future, so he'd come to personally oversee the engagement. To ensure Sean was, as it were, off the market.
Did Jason even consider Jennifer Atkinson as important as she once was?
It could only mean one thing: Grace was extremely important to Jason Reed.
Sean still couldn't believe it.
