Chapter 96

Sean left as if walking on air. At the engagement ceremony, Jason watched the ring exchange and listened to the speeches, a smile playing on his lips.

He anticipated photos of Sean and Lily's engagement party surfacing tomorrow, effectively ending any chance of Sean and Grace reuniting. He doubted Grace would ever take Sean back after his actions, but he wasn't taking any chances.

After the ceremony, the hall buzzed with congratulations, but Jason slipped away. A silver Bentley waited outside. Terrence opened the door, and Jason got in.

"Mr. Reed, are you returning to the apartment?" Terrence asked.

"Yes," Jason replied, leaning back and closing his eyes.

The car pulled up to Jason's building. He entered his apartment, where Grace was knitting in the dim light. She looked up, smiling sweetly. "You're back. It's cold out, isn't it?"

"It's fine," he said, noticing the wool. "Where did you get this?"

"I unraveled some old sweaters to make you a scarf and gloves. I had some free time."

He noticed labels from a designer brand on the table. "I recognize this. It's expensive. Why did you unravel your sweaters? Wouldn't it be better to wear them?" He held up a label.

Grace explained, "They're expensive, but the style is outdated. I won't wear them, so I put them to better use." The sweaters, she explained, were suitable for a more elegant style she no longer had occasion to wear.

"This should be enough for a scarf and gloves. Do you like the color?" she asked, showing him the oat-colored wool.

Jason stared at her, amazed. While everyone else seemed only interested in taking from him, she only gave.
