Chapter 27

Helena and her family hurried to the villa. Arriving at the old man's room, they were disheartened to find him awake.

Herman calmly glanced at the three of them before instructing Harrison, "Harrison, leave us."

Harrison sighed, turning and departing the room with a solitary air.

Two hours later, Helena's family emerged, smiles on their faces. The old man, dressed in a gray traditional robe and his hair neatly combed, appeared remarkably refreshed. A smile spread across Harrison's face as he noted his father's newfound mobility; the cane was gone.

"Harrison, Dad wants to take a walk at Rococo. Care to join us?" Hubert asked, smiling.

Before Harrison could answer, Herman calmly interjected, "You should return to Baroque. I've recovered. Unless you need something, there's no need to check on me."

"Yes, Dad," Harrison replied, a bitter smile playing on his lips.

The old man's partial memory loss had refocused his attention on his eldest brother's family, a troubling development for Harrison.

As Herman followed Hubert's family from the villa, he encountered two law enforcement officers.

Angelica politely approached. "Hello, Mr. Lewis. We're from the Criminal Investigation and Inspection Office. We'd like to ask you a few questions. Is that convenient?"

Hubert immediately intervened. "No, it isn't. My father has pressing business matters at the company."

Helena and her mother quickly helped Herman into the car.

Angelica's expression hardened, but Jupiter stopped her. "Patience is key. Let's wait for their return."

Herman and Hubert, influential Jonford entrepreneurs, commanded such respect that the officers had little choice but to wait.

Hubert entered the car. Helena accelerated, and they sped away.

Herman asked suspiciously, "Why were the Inspection Office officers looking for us?"

Rooney pursed her lips. "It's probably because of Hannah…"

"What's wrong with Hannah?"
