Chapter 28

Herman frowned, realizing he hadn't seen Hannah that morning.

"Hannah went to pick up her nephew yesterday and was in a car accident on the way back," Hubert explained.

"What?" Herman's expression changed abruptly. "How are they doing?" he asked urgently.

Hubert wiped his eyes, his voice choked. "They both died. The driver who caused the accident has been apprehended, and we've arranged Hannah's funeral."

Herman sighed heavily. "Hannah worked for our family for over twenty years. We cannot treat her family poorly now."

"Don't worry, Dad. We'll take care of it," his son assured him.

"Rooney, didn't my younger siblings prepay 140,000? Give her family an additional 210,000," Hubert said gently.

Rooney pursed her lips. "How can such a life be worth that much? The driver's insurance should cover it. Why should we pay?"

Herman frowned. "What are you muttering about?"

Helena, noticing her grandfather's rising anger in the rearview mirror, quickly interjected, "Mother said she'll transfer the money immediately."

Herman's expression softened slightly. "Hubert, call Mr. Zoel and sell the Royal Bay villa."

Hubert, overjoyed, suppressed his excitement. "Dad, Royal Bay villas are rare. Since you've already purchased it, why not leave it as Helena and Kai's home after their wedding?"

Herman, pleased to hear of Helena and Kai's relationship, readily agreed. The prospect of Helena marrying into the Watson family brought his own family prestige. "Do as you wish, then!"
