Chapter 33

Eight Stage Nine experts, each with distinctive hair, immediately rushed forward. Seeing Kai covered in blood, their eyes blazed with a murderous intent. Fortunately, Kai's injuries were superficial. Supported by others, he rose, spat out blood, and roared, "Kill him for me!"

Instantly, the eight experts unsheathed switchblades and charged at Nash. Concerned about showing disrespect in the Watsons' home, Brian used acupoint stimulation to regain his composure. He saw the eight figures lunging at the grandmaster like ravenous tigers, their bodies radiating a potent aura of death.

"Oh my god… Grandmaster, run!" Brian shouted.

Nash clenched his fists, his killing intent evident. He wasn't one to seek trouble, but he wouldn't shy away from it either. Brian scrambled to Nash's side, shouting, "Stop!"

The blonde-haired man, Canary, was about to plunge his switchblade into Brian's heart. His expression was cold, his eyes malevolent. Nash grabbed Brian, pulling him back, then kicked Canary's wrist. The switchblade fell; Canary's face shifted. Before he could retrieve it, Nash struck his chest.

The force sent Canary reeling. He looked up, but his vision blurred as the blade grazed his eye. Canary swallowed hard, sensing the breath of death. Nash retrieved his blade, delivering an elbow strike that sent Canary flying ten meters.

The remaining experts halted. Canary, the strongest among them, had been utterly outmatched by the young man. Nash's skill was clearly at the grandmaster level; he could contend with ten Stage Nine experts.

Nash dropped his switchblade and looked at Brian. "I'm withdrawing from this business deal. The Watsons should hire someone else."

He'd agreed to treat Mrs. Watson because Brian was his martial brother's grand-disciple. Thomas's medical skills stemmed from their master, as did Brian's; they were of the same lineage, differing only in seniority. He'd intended to help Mrs. Watson, yet almost died at the hands of a Watson family member. Had his temperament not been tempered by three years of mountain seclusion, Canary would be dead. Kai, who'd driven the car into Nash, wouldn't have survived either.

Brian's face was ashen. Only when Nash spoke did he regain his senses. He nodded grimly. "I understand, Grandmaster…"

He didn't know what grudge existed between the Watsons' eldest son and the grandmaster. Their sudden, near-fatal altercation had understandably ended the grandmaster's willingness to treat Mrs. Watson. Brian dared not persuade him. He could only relay the message to Walter.

Nash left without looking back. Walter soon emerged with others. Seeing the wrecked car and his bloodied grandson, Walter merely furrowed his brow before approaching Brian. Politely, he placed a hand on his chest. "Dr. Tanner…"

Brian mirrored the gesture. "Mr. Watson…"

Walter glanced around, smiling faintly. "Where's your grandmaster?"

Brian remained calm. "He's left. He asked me to tell you he's withdrawing from the business deal. The Watsons should find another physician."

Given the circumstances, honesty was the best policy.

Walter looked puzzled. "He was here… Why did he leave?"

Brian glanced at Kai. "That's a question you should ask your grandson…"
