Chapter 41

Adam, feeling dejected, gave Mr. Dean's number to Herman, who promptly dialed it.

"Dear old Dean…" Herman muttered, now believing Harrison's account. If the Harrisons were truthful, Hubert's family had likely already contacted the hospital. Contacting Mr. Dean directly would yield no information; he needed to feign memory recovery first.

Mr. Dean hesitated before asking, "Who is this?"

"Tell me, old Dean, did Nash cure my illness?" Herman replied.

"Who are you, and who's Nash?" Mr. Dean's voice was sharp. "Did you dial the wrong number?" He hung up.

Herman listened to the dial tone, his expression unreadable. Mr. Dean clearly didn't recognize him, confirming the Harrisons' deceit. The lies were riddled with inconsistencies. While Harrison might be foolish, Lauren, from a prestigious family, shouldn't be so naive.

Sighing, Herman lay down to rest.

At Mr. Dean's home, his wife murmured sleepily, "Who was that? Calling so late?"

Mr. Dean, leaning against the headboard with a lit cigarette, inhaled deeply. "It was old Lewis…"

He knew of Herman's situation but had been warned to feign ignorance; otherwise, his family would face consequences. He'd initially dismissed the warning, but a stranger had collected his granddaughter from school yesterday, followed by a significant increase in security at the Lewis estate today—Herman having hired nearly thirty additional security personnel. The mansion was heavily guarded.

Meanwhile, Kai arrived, greeted by smiling members of Hubert's family. Herman, radiant and beaming, was proud of Helena's impending marriage into a prestigious family.

As they dined, Hera burst in excitedly. "Grandpa, the CEO of Drake Group is here…"

The announcement sent a ripple of shock through the room. Drake Group, a top-ten Jonford company, boasted sixteen nationwide branches and nearly thirty thousand employees per branch, ranking among the nation's top fifty. This conglomerate dominated various sectors, from automobiles and mobile phones to computers, tablets, gaming consoles, and all other electronics. Countless chip companies sought collaborations. Rococo, primarily producing organic chips, relied heavily on contract manufacturing due to its flawed brand, making Drake Group's considerable contract manufacturing needs highly attractive.

While Hera's and Helena's family companies both desired collaboration, Drake Group's CEO's personal visit to the Lewis estate was perplexing.

"Come, let's greet Ms. Olivia…" Herman ushered everyone outside, Kai included.

A stunning woman leaned against a Ferrari, surrounded by more supercars than even Kai possessed.

A short-haired beauty, equally surprised, asked, "Oli, it's just a small family gathering. Is this really necessary?"

"I'm curious too," she continued, "Why would that despicable man place such importance on the Lewises? They're hardly even third-rate!"
