Chapter 43
Later, the Watsons intervened, canceling the original order. Today, when the Watsons' eldest son arrived at the Lewis family estate, the CEO of Drake Group, Ms. Olivia, followed closely behind. Hera could only attribute Ms. Olivia's presence to Kai. Hera lowered her head, feeling gloomy. With the Watsons' involvement, Helena's family was poised to rise.
"Darling, you're amazing! You even managed to invite Ms. Olivia!" Helena exclaimed, excitedly grabbing Kai's arm and ignoring the crowd. She tiptoed and left a lipstick mark on his face.
Kai stood with his hands in his pockets, smiling faintly. "I simply asked a classmate to contact Drake Group. I didn't expect them to send Ms. Olivia… Prepare yourself. Drake Group will soon sign a cooperation agreement with Rococo!" He had contacted Drake Group, but his intention was to help Helena sever their cooperation with Baroque.
Upon hearing Kai's words, Hubert and his wife were overcome with excitement, tears welling in their eyes. Collaboration with Drake Group meant an infinitely brighter future for Rococo.
Rooney's chubby face beamed. Glancing at Lauren, whose composure far surpassed her own, she approached, feigning surprise. "Lauren, I heard you shamelessly used the Mares' connections to secure cooperation rights with Drake Group. Ms. Olivia must be here to sign a contract with you, right?"
Hubert chuckled silently at his wife's verbal jab at Lauren. This strategy of subtle mockery proved effective. Lauren, well-read and resourceful, could easily handle even her family's attempts to suppress her. He, too, wanted to witness Lauren's reaction upon seeing Drake Group, a company she had longed to collaborate with, signing a contract with Rococo.
Hera stared at Rooney with disgust but remained silent.
Lauren raised her gaze slightly. "You must be joking, dear Rooney. I don't have the ability to invite Ms. Olivia. You possess such vast knowledge—perhaps you invited her!" Her meaning was clear: Ms. Olivia's presence had nothing to do with her family. The remark about Rooney's "vast knowledge" was thinly veiled sarcasm.
Hera detected the subtle meaning in her mother's words and smiled faintly. It was the first time Rooney had received a compliment from Lauren, and she believed she had the upper hand. She smiled, causing the fat on her face to jiggle uncontrollably. "Good to know you're self-aware… Don't worry, Lauren. If your company goes bankrupt, I'll definitely leave you a position as a toilet cleaner…"
Soon, everyone returned to their seats in the living room. After Olivia's gaze swept across the room, it settled on Kai and Helena. This alone filled Helena's family with excitement; they were even more certain Ms. Olivia had come for them.
Kai raised his glass, smiling. "Ms. Olivia, it's a pleasure to meet you. Allow me to offer a toast!"
Olivia quickly raised her glass, smiling modestly. "The pleasure is all mine…" The fact that only this young man was seated among the Lewis family indicated his exceptional status. He must be Nash, the individual her husband had mentioned. Olivia's politeness toward him boosted Kai's confidence; he even suspected his old classmate might have a connection with her.
After finishing his wine, Kai politely inquired, "Ms. Olivia, did you come to the Lewis household today to collaborate with the Lewises?"
Olivia, believing Theo was secretly supporting Nash, and that Nash was unaware of her true intentions, chuckled. "Yes, our marketing department recently decided to export a batch of mobile phones to Stygia… So…"
"Ms. Olivia, Stygia is poor and underdeveloped. Capturing the high-end digital product market there will be difficult!" Helena interrupted, summoning her courage.
While Stygia offered inexpensive labor and resources, making a production line feasible, selling phones there might not even cover the costs. Olivia was curious. She only wanted Baroque's chips; why was this young woman concerned about phones? She dismissed it as mere worry about potential losses.
She explained with a smile, "We can sell at a small profit but in large quantities. Stygia's population is no less than our own, and we already have multiple distribution channels. We can ensure sales of over 200,000 units per day…"
