Chapter 46

This involved an order totaling 300 million. Why would Baroque sign such a contract? Why did Hera ask Olivia to personally deliver it? Olivia must have mistakenly brought the wrong contract.

“The Mares negotiated a contract with Drake Group—the same one Kai tried to stop! This must be it!” Helena exclaimed, shaking Kai’s arm.

Kai narrowed his eyes, his impatience evident, but he restrained himself. The Mares' negotiated order was for four million; this one, for 300 million. The discrepancy was glaring; this wasn't the contract he'd tried to prevent. Herman seemed to have regained his composure.

Kai had invited Olivia, yet why did she suddenly want Baroque to sign this contract? He glanced at a shocked Lauren, clearly bewildered by the situation.

Olivia explained awkwardly, “I’m truly sorry, Mr. Lewis. Our mistake caused this misunderstanding.”

Herman waved his hands dismissively. “It’s alright. Baroque and Rococo are both Lewis family companies; thank you for your consideration…”

Olivia smiled faintly before asking, “Mr. Lewis, I’d like to inquire about someone…”

“Please, Ms. Olivia.”

“Their name begins with—”

“Ms. Olivia!”

Alice stepped forward, whispering in Olivia’s ear. A message from Theo had just arrived on Olivia's phone: “[Don’t investigate Nash. I’ll explain everything in due time.]” Alice relayed the message; Olivia nodded.

She smiled at Herman. “It’s fine. Please have the appropriate Baroque representative sign the contract.”

Herman, though dazed, checked his impulse to overthink and addressed Harrison. “Harrison, please sign this…”

Harrison stood, trembling, immobile for a long moment, his excitement rendering him momentarily speechless.

Lauren grasped Harrison’s wrist. “Dad,” she said, looking at her father, “Hera should sign this contract…”

Herman smiled and nodded. “As long as it’s your decision…” Although he chaired both companies, his focus had always been on Rococo. The responsibility for Baroque rested with Harrison's family.

Lauren went upstairs and summoned Hera, who initially disbelieved Lauren until her mother's insistence. She felt like she was dreaming after signing.

Helena remained unconvinced, losing her appetite and leaving with Kai. Hubert and Rooney, tasked with monitoring the old man, accompanied the others at dinner, though neither lifted their heads. Hera repeatedly toasted Olivia, her cheeks flushed from the wine.

Sated, the Drake Group representatives departed. The old man retired to his room. Hera called Nash to share the good news. Meanwhile, Harrison and his wife beamed on the sofa.

“Laurie, you’re incredible! You secured a 300-million-dollar project!” Harrison exclaimed.

Lauren rolled her eyes. “You think too highly of me. It wasn’t me. Not even Dad could land a 300-million-dollar project!”

Harrison was stunned. “If not you, then…”

“It’s Nash!” she revealed. "Olivia's secretary asked Kai earlier if he knew someone whose name started with 'N'. I think they were after Nash and mistook Kai for him!"
