Chapter 84
After the three of them were seated, attentive waitresses served them dishes and drinks. They were treated like royalty. Even the liquor, the Gellaward Tribute Spirit, was worth millions. Nash, having attended banquets of various royal families with his master, recognized some of the finer spirits.
Theo and Olivia toasted Nash, describing the caviar: “Nash, this is wild beluga sturgeon caviar, three hundred years old…” Theo personally served Nash a spoonful. The caviar was plump, translucent, and possessed a subtle golden luster— hallmarks of exceptional quality. Even Nash, accustomed to lavish occasions, felt a flicker of surprise. The most expensive caviar he'd previously tasted, from the Arrania royal family's cellars, was from a hundred-year-old sturgeon, costing $30,000 per gram. This three-hundred-year-old caviar was easily worth at least $50,000 for that small spoonful.
Nash tasted the caviar. It was tender, smooth, with a delicate briny flavor that lingered, imprinted, it seemed, on his soul. After sampling other delicacies, Nash finally asked, “Didn’t you say you had important news?” He hadn't come for a free meal; Theo's news likely concerned the Young Family Village incident.
Theo sipped his Gellaward Tribute Spirit, then said to Olivia, “Darling, excuse us a moment.” Olivia readily left the private room.
Theo continued, “My investigation reveals two Jonford families were involved in the Young Family Village arson.” Nash's glass shattered. A wave of killing intent filled the room. Theo, feeling a sudden chill, continued, “My grandfather extracted this from an old, unstable Klein family member. Unfortunately, he committed suicide this afternoon by jumping from a building. My grandfather believes the Kleins suspect us. Nashy… I want to help, but the Kleins are too powerful!” Theo hung his head. While both the Skyes and Kleins were Capiton’s super families, the Skyes were no match for the Kleins.
Nash took a slow breath and smiled. “You’ve helped enough. I'll handle the rest.” The Skye family was an ancient martial family, but his master's secrecy regarding his identity and enemies suggested more than martial arts were involved. Ancient martial practitioners were not the terrifying element; cultivators were.
Theo raised his glass, taking a large gulp. Six years ago, he could have helped with unwavering enthusiasm, but family responsibilities and the Skye and Lee families now demanded his attention.
A waiter replaced Nash's shattered glass and refilled both glasses. Nash lifted his glass, smiling. “I understand your situation. Don’t blame yourself. I’ll remember your kindness.” Without Theo’s help, he would still be in the dark about his true identity.
Theo clinked glasses with Nash. “Aside from this, I'm always here for you, Nashy!” Nash drained his glass. As he did, his phone vibrated incessantly.
He pulled out his phone to find numerous WhatsApp notifications from the "Happy Family" group chat. Over thirty unread messages, all from Harrison and Lauren urging Hera to call back. Nash frowned and immediately dialed Hera’s number.
