"Alright, then. What do you think about your new abode, darling?" Hailey asked, her tone gentle and slightly shy. However, as they interacted, she gradually warmed up to him.
"Okay," Yarrick began, "the president asked me to acquaint myself with all the departments within the company," he replied. "That was a simple task. It took me three days to familiarize myself and meet with all the department heads and important figures."
He continued, "I think it’s a decent job. At the very least, I get to learn quite a few things. Besides, I personally think the pay is great."
He couldn't help but laugh. He was relatively poor, and although he wasn't opposed to doing manual labor, he definitely preferred a job with a higher salary.
"Oh, I almost forgot," Hailey interjected, "here's something for you, honey."
She reached for her bag and took out a brand new debit card.
"This is a new debit card. Here, you should hold onto it. There isn't any money in there at the moment, but your salary will be deposited into that account every month," she explained.
Stunned, Hailey's mind raced as Yarrick handed her the debit card.
"Darling, we may be married, but you barely know anything about me. How can you just hand me your debit card?" she asked in bewilderment.
"You’re right, we’re married now. Now that you’re my spouse, my sight, just hold onto it, honey. You can manage our finances from now on," Yarrick stated with conviction. "Who cares if we don’t know each other that well?"
He clutched her hand and continued, "We're together now. I'm willing to give you my heart in hopes that you’ll offer me yours. A debit card doesn't change the fact that you’re my wife!"
After a brief pause, Hailey replied, "Okay then, Yarrick. I'll hold onto this for the meantime. I’ll do my best to treat you right too." Her blush deepened.
"Why are you addressing me by my name, honey?" Yarrick asked with a smile. He squeezed her hand. "Should I address you as something else then—darling?"
Calling Yarrick "darling" felt a little odd to Hailey at first. She might be feeling this way due to past experiences, but things were different now. Yarrick made her feel very warm and loved. Hence, she willingly obliged and addressed him as "darling" instead.
"Do you know that the president of my company is called Haley Jardon? And she’s a woman in her early thirties," Yarrick mentioned.
"Oh, what a coincidence." Upon hearing that, Hailey feigned surprise. There was a sly look in her eyes.
"Yeah. On top of that, she was ill previously and is recovering as well. Would you like to guess where we met up today?"
Yannick chuckled before replying, "No, that’s not it. We met up at a coffee shop—the one next to our neighborhood."
"What?" Hailey exclaimed in shock. She couldn’t help but smile sheepishly when she heard that. "What a weird coincidence! That coffee shop? It’s so close! I didn’t know the president lives around this area as well."
The pair continued their conversation throughout dinner.
Hailey gradually warmed up to Yarrick as their conversation went on. She was beginning to think that Yarrick was an honest, reliable, and sincere young man. "Do you know how shocked I was when I found out my president is called Haley Jardon?" he asked.
