Chapter 105

Caleb dragged a visibly distressed Manuel. Manuel felt like a zombie, his thoughts consumed by Selina. They’d just arrived at the Seaside Bar and ordered Night Shimmers, the bar's signature cocktails. Caleb took a sip, casually glanced around, and nearly choked. Was he seeing things? A second look confirmed it—Selina. He'd never forget that face.

Just as Caleb was devising an escape plan, Manuel spotted Selina and Lydia. Caught. Caleb whispered urgently, "Let's leave before they notice us. If Selina gets involved, it'll be trouble."

Caleb suspected Selina was in trouble since their last car race. Besides her stunning looks and incredible racing skills, she'd beaten Manuel in today's jewelry design contest—suspicious, given Manuel's genuine talent.

Lydia, noticing them, leaned close to Selina and murmured, "Selina, those two losers you trounced."

Selina replied nonchalantly, "Don't worry, Lydia. We'll handle it. After I beat them, they won't dare confront us again."

One had recently left the hospital after a racing incident with Selina; the other's reputation lay in ruins thanks to her in the contest. Selina wasn't trying to rub salt in their wounds; that would be beneath her. However, if they disappeared whenever she appeared, she might spare them further humiliation.

Manuel's eyes flickered. "You stay here, Caleb."

"What?" Caleb was stunned as Manuel walked toward Selina.

Had Manuel lost his mind? Caleb could only watch as Manuel approached, then follow from a distance.

"What brings you here, defeated by Selina?" Lydia couldn't hide her amusement at Manuel's audacity.

Manuel clenched his fist. "I came to apologize, Selina."

Lydia and Selina were speechless. Manuel apologizing? It was unheard of.

In their past lives, Manuel had constantly misunderstood Selina. Despite Selina proving her innocence repeatedly, he'd refused to apologize, constantly comparing her unfavorably to Ashley. The resulting misunderstandings and traps were relentless. Selina, craving her family's love, endured the slander, believing docility would earn their affection. She was tragically wrong.

Reborn, Selina no longer cared about the Harveys' opinions. She was free-spirited, and anyone who crossed her felt her wrath. Manuel, instead of further animosity, apologized. Selina could only laugh. It turned out that in the supposedly family-oriented Harvey family, rebellion was more effective than submission. They only responded to pain.

Chapter 103

"I don't need it, get lost," Selina said, sipping her Night Shimmer, bitterness surfacing for past injustices and present mockery.

Lydia, seeing Selina's unhappiness and growing resentment towards Manuel, kicked Manuel's leg.

Manuel stumbled, and Caleb rushed to help. "Manuel, are you alright? Can we talk this out? Why resort to violence?"

"Ask him," Lydia retorted. "Selina has nothing to do with the Harvey family. We don't need his apology. He should just stay away and not ruin our mood."

Lydia was ready to attack Manuel, tired of his presence.

Caleb tried to pull Manuel away, but Manuel broke free, staring intently at Selina. "I'm done apologizing, but… do you know Angel?"

Selina raised an eyebrow. "Slandering me for plagiarism again? Or did my husband recruit Angel for the Shackled Hearts concept? Your inability to admit defeat is appalling."

"No," Manuel said, "Angel is a proud, talented designer. Your Shackled Hearts design has her style. You must know her!"

Manuel believed Selina was Angel's student or acquaintance. He'd lost the contest and the chance to collaborate with Angel. Perhaps, through Selina, he could meet his idol.

Lydia chuckled at Manuel's devotion. The thought of Manuel's shock upon learning Angel's true identity filled her with gleeful anticipation.

"How well I know her is none of your business," Selina retorted sharply.

"Tell me, Selina! It's important!" Manuel pleaded, breathless. Selina's response confirmed his suspicions—she knew Angel.
