Chapter 133
Lydia, holding Selina's shoulder, voiced a concern that Sara might have a serious mental illness. Selina replied, "Yeah. It's a good thing I didn't grow up in the Harvey family." She felt fortunate to escape Ashley's vanity and a life of pretense. "Well, forget about the Harvey family," Lydia said. "I'll take you for that milkshake as promised." "Yeah, who cares about them? Let's go!"
Night fell soon after. Selina and Trevon set off for the banquet. In the spacious Maybach backseat, Selina ate yogurt, then nestled comfortably in Trevon's arms. The driver, unsurprised, had already raised the partition to ensure their privacy. "Unfortunately, I ate the cupcake too quickly," Selina sighed, curling her lips. She'd been a little hungry after her milkshake with Lydia, and had devoured the remaining cupcakes – all five – despite intending to only eat one.
Trevon said, helplessly yet fondly, "You little foodie."
"Your cupcakes are too good! They're delicious! This afternoon, it was milkshakes with Lydia and cupcakes. I'm so full! It's all your fault; you've turned me into a foodie. I want more tonight!" She added, reassured, that the cupcakes were healthy and fat-free. Her only worry was what she would do if she ever tired of them. Trevon simply said, "Alright." He enjoyed her dependence, noting that she rarely begged for anything else. Of course, he expected a suitable return.
"Honey," Trevon suggested, "if you had time to study other desserts, like pizza, with your talent, I'm confident you could create incredibly flavorful and healthy sweets without worrying about weight gain!"
Selina responded, playfully, "Well... I will work hard for you. Shouldn't you be smarter and give me some rewards?"
"When you finish your research, I'll massage you. I'm good at it!"
"I don't want that. I prefer something more intimate..."
"Honey, you're turning me on!" Selina teased.
Their playful banter continued until they arrived at the party.
The gathering was exceptional, attended by prominent Sokovis business elites and entrepreneurs from other cities. Security was extremely tight, and paparazzi were firmly turned away. The arrival of the Insight Group's black Maybach drew many eyes. The driver opened the back door, revealing the stunning Trevon, who adjusted his suit, his Rolex gleaming. He then escorted Selina, radiant in a striking red evening gown, from the car. Her freshly washed hair cascaded over her shoulders, her natural beauty enhanced only by sleek black heels. Her crimson lips, elegant figure, and captivating eyes mesmerized the onlookers.
Selina's fame preceded her. Formerly the world-renowned jewelry designer, Angel, legend had it that Trevon orchestrated her entry into Brilliance as an amateur, her true identity revealed only after online slander. Their relationship was clearly significant; Trevon rarely attended parties, and never before with a female companion. Selina's presence announced her status as Trevon's woman.
Whispers filled the air: "Angel and Mr. Brady are a perfect match." "The photo of them together has been trending for ages. My daughter's a fan." "I heard Angel was the Harvey family's lost daughter, who broke away for some reason."
The only certainty was that Trevon and Selina were a perfect match. While Selina's family background raised eyebrows—many questioning her suitability as the head of the Brady family's wife—everyone wondered what the Brady family thought.
Trevon and Selina ignored the speculation, entering the venue like royalty. Countless eyes, full of surprise, envy, and jealousy, were fixed upon them.
Ashley, previously enjoying the attention of Timothy and the surrounding crowd, was suddenly ignored. Following the collective gaze, she was shocked to see Selina with Trevon.
Trevon rarely attended such parties in person, usually sending trusted friends in his stead. This was unprecedented, an implicit declaration of his relationship with Selina.
Ashley fumed. She considered Selina inferior, a country girl lacking education. Selina's relationship with Trevon enraged her, prompting questions as to how she’d achieved it. And how could Selina be Angel? It was outrageous. Was she pretending?
Ashley's disdain turned to alarm as she noticed Timothy's captivated gaze upon Selina. Timothy, while harboring dislike for Selina and affection for Ashley, had never denied Selina's beauty and figure. Since leaving the Harveys, she had blossomed with confidence and allure. Now, in an exclusive white evening gown by a world-renowned designer, Selina outshone even Ashley.
