"Timothy, Selina is so beautiful," Ashley's voice pulled him back. Timothy inwardly cursed. Damn it! I was fascinated by Selina. Fortunately, Ashley didn't notice.

Timothy said, "Indeed, but in my heart, you are far more beautiful. You are the most beautiful." He was adept at soothing women.

Ashley lowered her head. "Timothy, I know you're comforting me. It's obvious to everyone that Selina is more beautiful. I feel like an ugly duckling."

"Timothy, thank you. But please don't speak of Selina that way. She's my sister; our biological connection is unbreakable."

Ashley thought, That's right, Timothy. Don't be fooled by Selina's beauty. She's disgusting and cheap, inside and out. I, however, am kind, intelligent, and sensible. She's nothing compared to me!

"Humph! You two, what insolent words are you whispering? Be more discreet!"

A cold voice made Timothy and Ashley whirl around. Selina stood there, a glass of champagne in hand, looking down at them contemptuously. Ashley noticed Trevon was gone. She bit her lip. "Selina, shouldn't you be with Trevon?"

Selina raised an eyebrow. "Trevon? You address him so familiarly. Ashley, are you trying to seduce my husband? It's a pity; you're far too 'common' to attract him."

"I didn't… Selina, how could you say that? Trevon is my brother-in-law!" Ashley's eyes welled up.

Timothy glared at Selina. "Selina, are you insane? Why would you wrong Ashley? She's always spoken highly of you. You're a disgrace!"

"Oh, the protector. Timothy, you're no match for my husband. Think you can charm Ashley away? Be careful she doesn't continue pestering him!"

Timothy was furious. He wanted to slap Selina. What was Trevon, anyway? Just luckier. If he had Trevon's luck, he could lead the Clark Group. Why did Selina see him as so inferior?

Selina said, "I feel much better now. I'm leaving. Goodnight!"

Timothy's face froze. "Selina, I just didn't want to fight with you, so I told Trevon to warn you!"

"Fight? You and your mother were no match for me before. Forgotten how I humiliated you? And you want to fight now?"

Ashley said, "Selina, I understand." She burst into tears and ran from the party.

"Ashley!"

Timothy wanted to follow, but Selina said, "Timothy, if you want your father to spank you, go ahead. I won't be the one scolded."

Selina left with her champagne. Ashley vanished.

Running outside, Ashley cried against a pillar, expecting Timothy to comfort her, giving her control over him and further humiliating Selina. But Timothy never came. She continued to cry, watching for him.

No one came. Where was Timothy? Selina had devastated her. Timothy should have chased after her, comforted her, and berated Selina. Her world felt shattered.
