Chapter 149
After receiving Lloyd's reply, Selina smiled. A pair of large hands embraced her from behind, and a gentle voice whispered, "Honey, I'll be there to cheer you on. If you need anything, just let me know, and I'll take care of it."
"I'm going to drive the Bugatti Veyron you gave me this time," Selina said, her eyes sparkling. "Since Lloyd is so proud of his modified GTR, I'll show him what a real modification looks like." It was her first time personally modifying a supercar, and she planned to go all out. The thought of surpassing Lloyd fueled her excitement.
"Charley has his own refitting factory, fully stocked with parts," Trevon said. "If you need anything, just ask him. I'll cover all the costs."
Selina's eyes widened. "Oh? Charley's refitting factory? That's perfect! Thank you, darling." She had considered shipping the Veyron abroad for modifications but realized that was impossible within three days. Now, with Charley's factory, things would be much simpler.
Trevon raised an eyebrow. "Is a thank-you enough?"
"Hmm, how about a kiss? Come on, mwah," Selina suggested, cupping his face and giving him a quick peck.
"That's not enough," he teased, leaning closer. They kissed.
The next day, Selina arrived at Charley's refitting factory. Charley, having received Trevon's message and seen the online news about the race, greeted her enthusiastically. "Selina! Over here!" He showered her with compliments, his unrestrained enthusiasm bordering on overwhelming.
Charley's nonstop chatter gave Selina a headache. Trevon had warned her he was talkative, and she briefly considered implementing Trevon's suggested remedy – a swift kick – but his animated expression and white hair were surprisingly appealing. She decided to endure it.
Finally catching his breath, Charley apologized. "Sorry, Selina, that's just me. Trevon would've kicked me by now. He's really lucky to have you."
"Of course he is," Selina replied. "Now, show me your factory and the Veyron parts."
Charley explained that while he didn't have every part, he'd secured many through expedited channels, with more en route. He added that Bugatti Veyron parts were rare in Clusia, requiring overseas sourcing for specialized items. His factory, while not highly profitable, served as a playground for wealthy clients, providing valuable networking opportunities. His friendship with Trevon stemmed from their families' emphasis on building relationships. Despite his seemingly carefree demeanor, Charley was shrewd and well-connected.
Selina toured the factory, impressed by its top-notch equipment. Such a facility must have cost millions to establish and maintain.
"I won't be taking outside orders these next few days," Charley said, his anticipation evident. "Feel free to use the factory as long as you need. Can we bring in the Veyron now?"
Selina’s Veyron, unregistered in Clusia due to its speed and power, was only legally drivable in professional races. Trevon owned the only registered one in the country – a rare, limited-edition model. Charley, who had long coveted a glimpse, was now ecstatic to see it in Selina’s possession.
When the Veyron rolled in, Charley’s reaction bordered on reverence. He caressed its lines, murmuring his admiration.
"It'll be even better after I modify it," Selina said, connecting her data cable and beginning to work on the software.
Charley watched, impressed, then suggested she recruit additional modification experts. The Veyron's modification was incredibly complex, and he worried about Selina overworking herself, especially with the impending race. He feared Trevon's wrath if Selina didn't get enough rest.
"I'll design the plan and handle the core programming," Selina assured him. "They can assist with the basic work."
Time flew by. Race day arrived. Lydia, Trevon, and Charley were in the stands, alongside the Harvey family's cheerleading squad: Quinton, Sara, Ashley, and Manuel. Ashley covertly admired Trevon, her feelings intensified by his presence alongside Charley, both men supporting Selina. She hoped Lloyd’s victory would bring them disappointment.
