Chapter 18

"Whoa, check out those hotties! Manuel, doesn't that girl look just like Selina?"

"It is her," Manuel hissed through gritted teeth, fury blazing in his eyes. He'd know Selina anywhere.

Caleb was stunned. "How could we just randomly run into her in this big city? And isn't Selina cut off from the Harvey family's wealth? How is she here, at a Lamborghini dealership?"

"Wait, you're saying that the last Lamborghini Huracán Tecnica was purchased by them?" Caleb asked, pointing at Selina and Lydia.

"Yes, sir. Ms. Harvey reserved the vehicle," confirmed the salesperson.

Caleb threw Manuel a confused look. Manuel was equally flabbergasted. "No way! Selina's just a small-town girl. How could she afford this without our family's money!"

Lydia caught sight of Manuel and smirked. "Of all the places, we run into these clowns!"

"Just ignore them," Selina said coolly. She seemed unfazed. Seeing them or not, it was all the same to her. She was done making the Harvey family her priority. After moving out and cutting all ties, they meant nothing to her. The salesperson approached with the paperwork. "Here's the contract, Ms. Harvey. Please sign here."

As Selina reached for the pen, Manuel barged in. "You can't sign that!" he confronted her, seething. "Selina, where did you get the money?"

"Watch it. Why so nasty? Did you kiss a trash can?" Lydia snapped back, already regretting not confronting the Harvey family sooner. Manuel's accusation of theft was the final straw; she was ready to explode. Manuel eyed Lydia, sensing familiarity, and frowned. "And who might you be?"

Before Lydia could reply, Selina interjected, "She's my sister. My real sister."

"You're nothing but a disloyal lowlife, Selina! You broke our family's heart, and now this..." He couldn't finish. Selina smacked him across the face.

The room fell silent. Manuel, shocked, touched his cheek. Selina had actually hit him—this sister he'd looked down upon and wished away!

"You?" Manuel received another smack, this time from Lydia.

"That's for your filthy mouth!" Lydia said, shaking her hand. It felt good.

Selina also felt liberated. For once, she'd stood up to the ungrateful Harvey family, fed up with their false accusations and emotional turmoil.

"What's the deal here?" Caleb intervened. "Can't we talk this out instead of resorting to violence? You good, Manuel?"

Manuel, hand on his reddened face, spat back, "Damn it. You think I'm afraid of hitting women?"

Manuel was furious. If Selina were a man, fists would be flying.

"Oh please," Lydia scoffed, barely containing her laughter. "He thinks we'd be scared he'd hit a woman? Selina, I bet you could hold back and still send him to the ER. What a joke."

Lydia whispered to Selina, "Stay away from him; you know dumb is contagious."

Lydia and Selina teamed up against Manuel, pushing him to the edge. "Selina Harvey!" he shouted.

"First off, don't say my name because I hate to hear it from your mouth. And you! You're not worth my time," Selina whipped out her cell phone and dialed. "Hello, 911? I'm at the Lamborghini dealership, and I need to report someone trying to assault me. Thanks!"

Manuel and Caleb were dumbfounded. Caleb couldn't help but ask, "You're swinging and now you're calling the cops! Really looking to stir the pot, huh?"

Selina sneered, "I swung because you provoked me by accusing me of stealing."

"Listen, Selina. I don't hit women, but that doesn't mean you can walk all over me," Manuel was livid. "You think after losing the Harvey family's backing, the Brady family will just welcome you? You think Trevon is just going to foot the bill for your life! Come on. You're trouble. Why are you even around? Why did we even bother to bring you back? I figured you'd stay quiet, but nope, you're back to your old tricks!"

Manuel acted superior, hurling baseless accusations at Selina, like a judge delivering punishment, hitting her where it hurt most.

"It all makes sense now, Manuel. That's just who Selina is... No shocker. I had a bad feeling when you said you picked her up from the boonies," Caleb's opinion of Selina shifted. Sure, she had the Harveys' blood as their long-lost daughter, missing for twenty-one years. But after her disappearance, she'd scraped by, lacking the privileged upbringing and education of the wealthy. Growing up poor, one would be lucky to avoid trouble, even while managing to succeed academically. The real concern was that she might have developed unsavory habits, difficult to break.

But the Harvey family had Ashley now—smart, sophisticated, everything Selina wasn't. Integrating someone like Selina from a completely different world into the Harvey family's life was never going to work; it was bound to be a disaster.

Caleb had warned Manuel about this. However, the Harvey family's desire to find their long-lost daughter had overridden everything else. 'Now look where that got them,' Caleb sighed inwardly.

As the mood shifted, Selina's expression hardened. Without another word, she strode to the contract and signed boldly. Lydia then flashed her black card, flaunting it before handing it to Selina.

Selina swiped the card, glanced around the room, and declared, "This Lamborghini? A gift from my sister. Any issues with that!"
