Chapter 26

Trevon elegantly cut his steak, then glanced at Selina. "So, where did you hang out today? You seem pretty excited."

"Just caught up with Malcolm," Selina replied, popping an oyster and grinning. "He zipped back from Mumzik to help me with some legal stuff. Man, this is good—so fresh, not too heavy, and totally juicy!"

Trevon was about to inquire about Malcolm when he noticed sauce on Selina's face. He grabbed a napkin, leaned in, and gently wiped her cheek.

Selina blinked, surprised.

"You had a little something there," he said quietly. "If you're enjoying the food, be sure to tell the kitchen staff."

"Thanks," she grinned, returning to her meal.

Trevon settled back, ready to continue their conversation, but simply shook his head, watching Selina devour her dinner. He kept stealing glances at her—the same girl who'd aced the Dark Web as the hacker Charm, now enjoying a seemingly ordinary evening. He mused, "Selina, oh Selina, who are you, really?"

Just then, Devin entered, his expression serious. "Mr. Brady, Mrs. Brady, the police are at the door. It's about a car accident, and they need Mrs. Brady's assistance."

Trevon eyed Selina. "Are you involved in this?"

Selina, finishing her meal, dabbed her mouth. "Nope, but I'll help out."

"Alright," Trevon stood. "I'm coming with you."

At the police station, the officers seemed uneasy seeing Selina again. They'd just dealt with her and Manuel's drama yesterday, and now a car wreck? Bad luck, they thought. However, they proceeded with the questioning. "Just to be clear, no racing or other issues before the crash? It was solely the driver's fault?"

"Yes," Selina stated calmly. "I ensured the security camera footage was crystal clear. I stayed away from him the entire time."

Indeed, the security cameras showed Caleb's Lamborghini had hit the median because he wasn't paying attention. Selina's only infraction was speeding; no other laws were broken. The moment she saw the crash, she called 911 and directed nearby officers to the scene. Without her quick intervention, Caleb would have been seriously injured.

A woman then stormed in, agitated. "Who's responsible for my son's car crash?!"

"Mrs. Thompson, please calm down," someone attempted to soothe her.

"Calm down?! My son is in the hospital, fighting for his life!" Caleb's mother, Maddie Thompson, glared venomously at Selina. "It was you! You did this because my son is close to the Harvey family, because he's Manuel's best friend! You targeted him!"

"Mrs. Thompson, you might want to retract those words," Selina snapped back, icy calm. "Do you have any proof I targeted him? As the officer stated, your son would have been seriously injured if I hadn't called for help. Instead of thanking me for saving his life, you accuse me? Very nice."

"You! Stop the fake sympathy! Selina, are you saying you had nothing to do with this?" Maddie fumed.

"I'm saying exactly that. Why don't we wait for Caleb to wake up and ask him if his inattention and speeding caused the accident? If he can't handle his fancy car, he shouldn't be showing off—don't want his family crying over something stupid," Selina retorted sharply. Her ice-cold words enraged Maddie.

"Enough!" the officer intervened. "Mrs. Thompson, no more drama! This is a police station, not your living room. We deal with facts here, not street fights." He explained that the footage showed her son's inattention. He acknowledged the sadness of the situation but emphasized that Selina's quick call had prevented a far worse outcome. He showed Maddie the evidence.

Maddie seethed. The previous day, Caleb had complained to her about Selina's treatment of the Harvey family, claiming she acted as if they weren't related and wanted her own brother jailed. She'd already concluded Selina was trouble. "I want the entire thing investigated again! She must have done something to my Caleb. My boy is careful, never reckless, and he belongs to a racing club. He knows how to handle a car. No way he'd mess up like a newbie!" Her eyes burning with a thirst for revenge, she glared at Selina.

Selina, composed, stood gracefully. "Officer, I've cooperated fully. May I leave?"

"Sure, Ms. Harvey. You're free to go."

The officers were exasperated with Maddie's drama. This wasn't a minor case—it involved prominent figures like Trevon's wife and the Thompson son. Maddie's behavior, far from the classy demeanor expected, was particularly grating, given the significant names involved.

"What! You're just going to let her leave?! No way!" Maddie desperately tried to stop Selina, but Trevon's icy tone cut through the commotion. "You. Don't. Allow." It was a question, yet it felt like a freezing command. Maddie turned to see Trevon, one hand in his pocket, standing tall and commanding the room. His presence, especially his chiseled face, rendered her speechless. His blue eyes held a look that could intimidate anyone.

Maddie didn't know Trevon, but after years in elite circles as the Thompson family matriarch, she sensed this was no ordinary man.
