Chapter 41

Trevon knew exactly what Selina was up to. A flicker of warmth crossed his eyes as he selected a lipstick for her. Selina reached for it, but Trevon leaned in to apply it himself.

Surprise flickered across Selina's face. For the first time, she saw him up close. To her, Trevon was breathtaking—the epitome of unattainable nobility. Yet, in this moment, he seemed different, intensely focused in a way that made her feel like she was the only person in the world. His gaze, fixated on her lips as though capturing every detail, completely enveloped her.

Working meticulously, Trevon painted her lips. Selina caught sight of his eyelashes—long and astonishingly beautiful, rivaling a woman's. Trevon possessed a sharp, striking nose and skin so smooth it would make most women envious. Standing at an impressive six feet two inches, he had to stoop to apply the lipstick, looking every bit the devoted knight to his queen.

After finishing, Trevon gently pinched Selina's chin, admiring his handiwork. "Check it out," he said, stepping back.

Selina tore her gaze from Trevon's exceptional eyelashes and looked at her reflection. The lipstick transformed her, the bright red bringing her face alive with untamed allure. It complemented her deep-set eyes, giving her a fierce elegance. "You've got an eye for this," she said, a smirk playing on her lips. "Honey, how are you so good at picking things out for women?"

"I've seen a lot of women, after all," Trevon said with a confident grin, unable to hide his amusement.

Trevon never imagined a day when he'd be selecting necklaces and applying lipstick for a woman. Anyone who knew him would be stunned, and frankly, Trevon was surprised himself. But life had a way of throwing curveballs. Now he understood. And there was something else—Selina was the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen.

"You sure have seen a lot of them, Mr. Brady. You know just the right makeup for a woman on the first try," Selina said.

"I won't lie, I've met my fair share of women. But you're the only one I can see as my wife," Trevon replied, his voice sincere.

He watched Selina as if peering into her soul. Selina leaned in and playfully tipped Trevon's chin up, her gesture like that of a mischievous cat. "Honey, I'll be your wife, but just for a year," she whispered.

"Even if it's just for a year, you're still my wife," he responded firmly.

"Right. For a year, I'm your wife and you're my husband—it's all legal and official." As Selina's fingers grazed Trevon's stubbly chin, she proposed, "Let's add a new rule to the agreement: While we're married, no flirting with other women and no scandals. I don't need any distractions while I deal with the jerks."

Trevon stood and, in a playful tussle, caught Selina's wandering hand. "So, are you saying you're jealous?"

"You bet," she countered. "You're my husband. Regardless of the agreement, to everyone else and even in my own heart, you're mine this year. No wife likes her husband's attention divided."

"Understood. In that case, you're not allowed to cozy up to other guys either. Fair's fair," Trevon responded.

With their deal updated, Selina decided to use the restroom before heading to Trevon's to meet his parents. Trevon watched her leave, her fragrance lingering on his fingertips. Absently, he scratched his chin where Selina's playful touch had left its mark. Being with Selina brought Trevon an ease he hadn't known outside of work or family. He never thought he could feel this comfortable around a woman.

The mere thought of Selina's stunning face made Trevon's heart race, and he couldn't help but feel excited. "Selina, I know you're kidding, but asking me not to look at other women… that actually makes me kind of happy," Trevon confessed, a hint of surprise in his voice.

He didn't quite understand this new feeling, but something had shifted within him. Watching Selina stand her ground, seeing her identity revealed, getting dressed up, and being known as "Trevon's wife"—hearing her call him "honey"—it all made the world seem brighter, warmer, and more radiant than ever before.

In the suburban area, Trevon and Selina arrived at Samuel's home in their sleek Maybach. It was modest compared to Trevon's sprawling mountain estate in the city center.

It surprised anyone who knew the family that Samuel, the fourth Brady son and head of the Network Security Department in Clusia, would choose such a simple, unpretentious place to live.

Just before getting out of the car, Selina turned to Trevon with a slightly concerned look. "Babe, I know it's a bit late to ask, but your family's easygoing, right?"

Trevon caught her glance, giving her hand a reassuring squeeze. "Feeling nervous?"

"It's just that meeting your dad and stepmom… it's complicated. If they don't take to me, can I just handle things my way?" she asked, her eyes wide and seemingly naive.

The driver quickly looked away, deciding it was best to pretend he hadn't heard. The idea of Selina "handling" Trevon's parents was a conversation he wanted no part of. He had been with Trevon for years and had learned that sometimes ignorance was bliss.

"Babe, handle things however you see fit. Don't worry about my feelings. But considering they raised someone as spirited as Nora, I bet they'll take a liking to you," Trevon reassured Selina.

Selina nodded. "You have a point, and I'm glad to hear that. I can be myself later." Hand in hand, they stepped out of the Maybach and made their way to the villa's entrance.

"Selina!" Nora, already aware of Selina's arrival, waited at the door. She rushed towards them, intent on hugging Selina, trying to wedge herself between them, but Trevon stopped her. "Nora, can't you see I'm with Selina, hand in hand? Go find something else to do."

"Of course. I saw it! Rad guy, Trevon! Why are you holding Selina's hand? Don't think I forgot how you ditched me outside that restaurant and left with Selina that one time!" Nora said accusingly.
