Chapter 46

Quinn was in trouble. What did Wyatt mean?

"What's going on?" Cameron asked, having overheard their conversation.

Quinn swallowed her pride and asked in a small voice, "Can you lend me some money so I can buy a ticket back to Konvale?"

"What's going on?" Cameron asked again.

Quinn shook her head. "I have no idea. Mr. Thompson wants me to meet him at 2:00 p.m. today."

Hearing this, Carleton picked up his phone and dialed someone. "Sodia, book me a ticket to Xenvale for two hours from now. I'll send you the details shortly." Quinn immediately sent Cameron her legal name and identification number, which Cameron then forwarded to Sodia.

They got up to leave. Cameron took out his wallet and gave Quinn all the cash inside. "I don't usually use cash. Just take it."

Quinn refused. "I don't need that much. I'll just take what I need."

"Just take it," Cameron insisted. He then left the café to get his car.

Quinn felt grateful for his kindness. A moment ago, Cameron seemed intent on her repaying him, but now he was offering her money. She couldn't understand his sudden change in demeanor.

"What are you doing? Get in the car," Cameron said.

"It's okay. I'll head there myself," Quinn replied. The airport was quite far, and she knew Cameron was busy; he'd already spent considerable time helping James that morning. She didn't want to trouble him further.

At that moment, Cameron's phone rang.

"What's up?" Cameron answered.

"Mr. Sutton, your father is feeling better today. He wishes to see you. Could you come to the Sutton residence?" Cameron's butler, Theodors, asked. Cameron agreed before hanging up. He turned to Quinn, wished her a safe journey, and drove away.

Quinn went straight to the hotel upon landing in Xenvale. Everyone stared as she arrived, whispering and pointing. Quinn was bewildered.

She took the elevator to the tenth floor. Entering Wyatt's office, she saw two people seated on the couch: a man who appeared to be about forty, and a young woman who looked around fifteen.

Quinn approached Wyatt's desk. "Mr. Thompson, were you looking for me?"

Wyatt stood abruptly, pulling her toward the couch. "Please meet Ms. Lawson," he said to the others. "Feel free to ask her any questions you may have."

The man stood, scrutinized Quinn, and asked, "You're Ms. Lawson?"
