"Please don't talk for a bit," Chem said. She cared less about manners; she had to silence Cameron at all costs. Quinn had to tiptoe to reach Cameron as she was much shorter than him. It was hard for her to maintain her posture because Cameron was completely…
Cameron didn’t struggle to get away from Quinn. He simply let her place her hand over his shoulders and looked at Quinn with his eyes shining brightly. Quinn noticed he was looking at her intently. She met his gaze and realized she had crossed the line again.
Grinning, she withdrew her hand and said in a small voice, "Trust me."
She was interrupted by a knock on the door. A woman's voice said, "Ms. Lawson, please open the door. It's Jennifer. It's time to pay your rent for the month."
Carrizo immediately understood why Quinn was acting like that. Jennifer yelled, "Please open the door! I heard you came home. The security guard told me so. It’s been many days past the due date. I’ve come to see you more than ten times. You were either not home, or you said you would pay after you got your pay. When will you finally get paid?"
Quinn felt unhappy; she had to endure Jennifer's barrage while Cameron watched. She didn't want Cameron to think she was always in debt. However, she couldn't open the door because she had no money to pay her rent.
"I can help you," Cameron said gently, his voice devoid of sarcasm or disdain.
"No, I've owed you enough," Quinn immediately rejected him. She couldn't possibly accept more money from him. Then again, why should she reject his offer?
Jennifer grabbed the doorknob and attempted to turn it. To her surprise, the door opened, revealing a man. Her anger dissipated as she saw Cameron's handsome face, and she froze.
"How much does she owe you?" Cameron asked.
Jennifer blinked, recovering from her pleasant surprise. She smiled and asked, "Who are you? Are you Ms. Lawson's friend?"
"Later, I'll pay you back," Quinn said, peeking out from behind Cameron.
However, Cameron was already reaching into his wallet for cash before she finished. He gave the money to Jennifer and asked, "Is this enough?"
Jennifer took the money and counted it. It was around seven thousand dollars. She smiled happily. "It's more than enough."
Cameron looked at Jennifer with disdain and said, "Keep the change." He turned and closed the door, leaving Jennifer standing outside, smiling foolishly. She had never seen anyone as handsome as Cameron in her life.
