Chapter 52

"Why did you give her so much money? I'm going to ask her to give the extra money back," Chinn said. She was less generous than Cameron and was about to open the door to speak with him.

Cameron pulled her back, trapping her against the wall. He held her shoulders, looking at her silently.

Quinn, quieter than Cameron, remained close. She lowered her gaze, fixing it on a button of his shirt.

She said softly, "I didn't intend to be late with the rent. I was paid a few days ago and planned to send most of it to my brother studying overseas. I was going to use the rest to pay rent, but my dad had an emergency, and I had to help him. Unfortunately, someone stole all my money. I know I shouldn't owe people money, but…"

Quinn didn't finish her sentence before Cameron stooped and kissed her.

Quinn was so shocked she couldn't think. Her eyes widened, and she reacted instinctively. His kiss was electrifying, weakening her knees. Her hand, intended to push him away, instead went to his neck. Fearing a fall, she grabbed onto Cameron.

It was meant to be a peck, but their kiss deepened. Cameron's hands were on her waist, his body pressed against hers. Quinn felt breathless, her face flushed, dizzy from the taste of his breath.

Cameron, fearing Quinn might faint from lack of oxygen, finally released her. Seeing her flushed face and shy demeanor, he smiled, saying in a low voice, "This counts as repayment of the interest you owe me."

What was Cameron talking about?

Quinn looked up, gasping for air. Cameron's face was close, and she blushed again, smelling his cologne. He still held her, resting his chin on her shoulder.

"You could also think of this as me being unable to control myself around you," Cameron said, unwilling to let her think he viewed the kiss as a purchased commodity.

Quinn, surprised, looked into his eyes. "What do you mean?"

"I mean you should learn to kiss properly. I won't let you off the hook so easily next time," he said, flicking her forehead. He surveyed the apartment and, taking her hand, stepped out.

Quinn couldn't forget his words. Next time? What did he mean? Was he going to kiss her again?

It was 7:00 pm when they returned to the hotel. Quinn planned to order room service, but Cameron, energetic, wanted to dine out. He even presented her with an expensive dress to change into.

Quinn held the dress, dazed, unsure of his intentions.
