Chapter 60

Quinn stepped out of the master bedroom; the living room was empty. Toth, Cameron, and Harry were nowhere to be seen. She let out a quiet sigh of relief. She truly had no idea how to face Cameron after everything.

After glancing at the wall clock, she realized it was already 7:30 PM. Her hunger pangs began to intensify. She returned to her room to change and prepare to leave.

Just as she grabbed her room key and was about to leave, her phone rang. The caller ID showed an unfamiliar number. Answering, she pressed the phone to her ear. "Hello, who is this?"

"This is McLawson," a stranger's voice said. "There's a parcel for you. I'm waiting in the underground parking garage. Could you please come down to pick it up?"

A parcel? Quinn frowned, confused. She didn't remember ordering anything. "Is there a mistake? I haven't bought anything," she replied.

"No mistake. It's definitely your package. Mr. Sutton brought it. Could you please come down right away?" the person insisted.

Cameron bought it? Was it meant for her? What could it be? He had just bought her a dress, hadn't he?

"Oh, okay, I'll be right there. Please give me a minute," she said. Her mind swirled with questions as she hurried downstairs.

Quinn stepped out of the elevator in the basement parking garage and spotted a man in a delivery uniform. He wore a baseball cap and stood in a corner with a parcel, waiting.

"Hello," she greeted as she approached.

"Ms. Lawson?" The man glanced at her to confirm.

"Yes."

"This is your parcel. Please sign here," he said, handing her the box, a pen, and the delivery slip.

Quinn accepted the pen and bent down to sign. Just as she finished writing her name, the man suddenly pulled out a cloth and pressed it over her mouth. The overpowering stench assaulted her senses. Soon, darkness enveloped her, and she lost consciousness.

The atmosphere in one of Starlight's private rooms was thick with the clinking of glasses and laughter; its inhabitants had indulged in several rounds of drinks. Starlight was a top-rated restaurant in Xetrale.

Cameron surveyed the smiling faces around him and felt a wave of disgust rise within him. He knew the ambition lurking behind their smiles. Not long ago, they had all been vying for Russo's favor. Now that Russo had faced setbacks in the Moon Island project and had been ousted from his chairman position by the board of Pimuache Group, these sycophants were eager to curry favor with him, hoping to seize a piece of the pie.

If this had been in the past, Cameron might have enjoyed watching their pathetic attempts at flattery. But tonight, he still had someone lying in his bed whom he hadn't fully won over yet. He didn't have the time or interest to deal with these men.

Rising from his seat, he wiped his mouth with a napkin and prepared to leave. When they saw him stand, everyone rose quickly and gazed at him expectantly. Beside him, Harry sensed Cameron's impatience and hurriedly waved his hands. "Everyone, Mr. Sutton has another appointment tonight, so he'll only join us for this meal."
