Listen to this chapter:

A stoic nun wiped the debris from his hand with a towel.

“This woman will die if he doesn’t come,” the tattooed man, Tristan Wright, spat on the dagger and wiped it with the towel again. The tip of the dagger glinted.

“She will die anyway. Why don’t we have some fun with her before she dies?” The wiry man, Tilly Yarne, licked his lips before looking lecherously at Quinn, who lay on the ground.

“Do you want to have fun with her? We have to kill Cameron.”

“I’ll do it,” said Tristan, handing Tilly the dagger.

Billy panicked. “No, no, Tristan! Didn’t Mr. Smith tell you to do it yourself? How could I take credit?” Tristan glared at Billy.

“What grudge does Sutton hold against Mr. Smith? Why does Mr. Smith insist on killing him?” Billy asked curiously, taking a chair and placing it beside Tristan before sitting.

“Are you asking me?” Tristan smacked the back of Billy’s head. “How the fuck would I know?”

“Tristan, I thought you would know the details, since you’re such a knowledgeable person,” Billy replied softly, rubbing the back of his head.

“Ach, she’s Cameron’s woman; she merely knows,” Tristan pressed his lips, looking at Quinn some distance away.

Billy heard him and quickly stood up, walking to Quinn and leaning over her. “Hey, let me ask you something.”

Quinn opened her eyes and saw Billy’s face. Her eyes were wide with horror.

“What happened between Mr. Smith and that Sutton guy?” Billy asked.

“Mr. Smith?” Quinn tried to recall the name. A memory surfaced. She wondered if it was the man who’d tried to intoxicate her the other day. It must be him. That man had begged Harry for forgiveness and looked for Cameron at the restaurant. Afterward, he sent her gifts, seeking forgiveness. However, considering Cameron’s character, he probably wouldn’t forgive him easily. Hence, that man had resorted to such extreme measures.

Why would this involve her? She wondered why they’d involve her.

“Say something. Are you sure?” Billy grew anxious at Quinn’s silence. He stepped on the back of her hand.

“Ahh!” Quinn shrieked, pain shooting through her.

“I don’t know,” she gritted out.

“You don’t know? It seems you’ll die for nothing then,” Billy said regretfully.

“Why would I die for no reason?” she wondered. Her heart clenched. She looked at Billy timidly. “What do you mean? Are you going to kill me?”

“If not, why bring you here?” Billy looked at her, amused.

“But I thought you did this for money? If Mr. Sutton brings the money—”

“Tsk tsk! You’re so stupid. Do you think Sutton will leave here alive?”

Quinn finally understood. “So you didn’t do this for money?”
