Chapter 99

Without a word, Quinn strode up to Caleb and slapped him hard across the face. The sound echoed through the room, leaving Caleb stunned and speechless.

“Listen up, Caleb,” Quinn said, her voice cold and firm. “I’ve already paid back your mother’s breakup money with interest. Yes, I used the money I earned at the nightclub to do it. I don’t owe you anything, so stay away from me. I never want to see you again!”

Waiting for a response, she turned and left the room. By the time Caleb snapped out of his daze, she was already gone, her figure disappearing through the doorway. She rubbed her stinging hand as her eyes pierced into him like daggers.

After that, Quinn rushed back to the elevators, eager to tell Cameron that she had returned Caleb’s slap and was no longer a pushover. Unfortunately, Cameron was nowhere to be seen. Only Melody stood there, looking around for her.

“Quinn, where did you go? I was only in the bathroom for a while, and you vanished!” Melody exclaimed as she saw Quinn rushing over.

“I went to even the score,” Quinn replied. She felt her mood significantly improve despite her still-stinging cheek.

“What do you mean?” Melody asked, not understanding.

Quinn explained, with a glimmer of satisfaction in her eyes, “I went back to the room and slapped Caleb.” For the first time, she realized that revenge felt much more satisfying than forgiveness. Just like the saying from a movie, “Forgiveness is between them and God. It’s my job to arrange…”

As they left the hotel, Melody offered to treat Quinn to dinner as an apology for helping Caleb trick her into coming. However, Quinn politely declined, as her mind was preoccupied with finding Cameron.

They parted ways at the hotel entrance. Melody headed home while Quinn walked to the curb. As she prepared to call Cameron, a sleek black Porsche pulled up beside her. Her face lit up, thinking it was him.

The window rolled down, revealing an unexpected face. “Ms. Lawson? What a coincidence,” the diner said.

Quinn stared at him for a moment, surprised. “Oh, it’s you.”

“Are you waiting for someone?” Zayne asked, glancing around.

Quinn nodded, then shook her head. “No, not really.”

“Hop in. I’ll give you a ride home,” Zayne offered.

Quinn hesitated, standing still in place without responding. Seeing her hesitation, Zayne stepped out of the car and opened the passenger door. He teased with a playful grin, “What’s wrong? Are you planning to run me down again?”

“No!” Quinn quickly replied, waving her hands. “Get in. Don’t worry, I don’t bite,” Zayne joked, holding the door open.

Unable to find an excuse, Quinn reluctantly climbed into the car.
