Chapter 58

Noelle looked at Gordon and said, “Know your place, Gordon. You’re just a butler. You don’t tell me what to do.”

Gordon was slightly angered. “Ms. Liddell, I may be just a butler, but I still have the right to speak the truth!”

“Oh? And why should I listen to you?”

When Noelle returned to the Liddell family that time, her patience had run out. She’d believed ignoring things would solve everything. But some people, like Gordon, never knew when to stop.

The other housekeepers notified Frank that something had happened upstairs. He rushed to Noelle’s room and saw the spilled food. “What happened, Noelle? Is the food not to your liking?”

Gordon, on the verge of tears, complained, “Mr. Frank, I was kindly advising Ms. Liddell not to eat alone in her bedroom; it might cause rumors. She slapped the tray from my hands, spilled the food, and said I had no right to reprimand her.”

Frank frowned. “Gordon, you don’t have the right to reprimand her.”

Gordon was shocked; he hadn’t expected Frank to side with Noelle.

Xenia immediately stepped forward, beside Gordon. “Frank, Gordon’s trying to help. Like Dad, he’s been with the Liddell family for years. He may be a butler, but he’s always been loyal.”

Frank’s expression softened. “I didn’t mean it that way.”

Noelle, however, wanted them all to leave. “I want all of you out!”

Frank replied, “I’ll have someone clean up the spill and bring you another tray.” He left, then turned to Gordon. “Show Noelle respect. Don’t say anything you shouldn’t.”

Frank realized a butler had dared to lecture Noelle. He reckoned the staff had grown accustomed to the family’s mistreatment of Noelle and followed suit. He felt he’d failed Noelle as her older brother.

Xenia stared at Frank’s retreating figure, panicking slightly. She felt Frank had changed; he would have sided with Gordon in the past. She knew she had to stop this.

After Noelle’s outburst, the housekeepers cleaned up and brought another dinner tray. This time, no one lectured her.

After finishing her homework, she opened WhatsApp to invite Cedric to play. She saw a friend request from Lucas. She ignored it; she didn’t want his lectures or apologies.

Noelle messaged Cedric. “Want to clear some dungeons, sir?” She booted up her computer, waiting for a reply.

She saw a news update: “Team Celestial has invited King’s disciple to join, leaving Team Luminark devastated!” Curious, she clicked the article.

Magnus, Team Celestial’s captain, had publicly invited Noelle. Lucas, however, publicly rejected the offer on Noelle’s behalf. “My sister will never join your team!”

Noelle was surprised by Magnus’s invitation. She wondered if he knew she was Lucas’s sister.

A notification: a friend came online. She invited Cedric to her party.

ReverseTime: “Who are you?”

SweetNelly: “Is that you, sir?”

ReverseTime: “The fuck? My older brother’s actually playing games with a girl!”

Magnus was so shocked he fell to the ground.
