Chapter 66

Frank felt that Noelle was genuinely not going to forgive him this time.

Just then, Lucas chimed in, “The exams are over, right, Frank? I’ve already reserved a table at a restaurant. Let’s go and have a meal together.”

Xenia nodded and replied, “Okay. Let’s go.”

Lucas then looked around and asked, “Where’s Noelle? Is she not out yet?”

Xenia hid her annoyance with a sweet smile. “Noelle just left with the school doctor. I have no idea where she rented all the sports cars from, but they did put on quite a show, Lucas.” Lucas’s expression instantly darkened. “Why didn’t you stop her, Frank? The exams are already over; we can’t let Noelle do as she pleases!”

Frank felt a little devastated. “You’re right. The exams are already over.”

He recalled Noelle talking about looking ahead to the future and wondered if she had decided to leave the Liddell family for good.

Lucas had hesitated for a long while about whether to come to the school. He eventually decided to show up but unexpectedly missed Noelle. Frank was still unable to accept the reality of things. He turned around and said, “I still have some work to do. You two go ahead.”

“Frank, aren’t these flowers for Xenia?” asked Lucas.

Frank took a look at the bouquet and handed it to Xenia. “I’ve made a mess today. Anyway, best wishes for your exams as well, Xenia.”

His mental state was in a mess. He had deliberately bought just a single bouquet of flowers to give to Noelle, hoping that he wasn’t just favoring Xenia.

Xenia accepted the bouquet and beamed happily. “Thank you, Frank. You know, being able to grow up in the Liddell family feels like a dream come true for me. But even so, I still know my place. Once I’m in college, I’ll move out and live alone so that Noelle finally stops butting heads with all of you.”

Lucas immediately said, “What are you talking about, Xenia? You’ve been our sister ever since you were adopted into the Liddells. We’re a family! We’ll handle whatever’s going on with Noelle; it has nothing to do with you!”

Xenia lowered her head. She wore an expression that made her seem fragile.

Frank eventually spoke up. “Lucas is right, just stay with us, and don’t overthink things.”

When he left, he began to think that Xenia’s proposal was indeed a pretty good idea. But he also thought that it would be highly unfair to Xenia, who had never done anything wrong. Frank believed that there must be some other way to win Noelle back.

They were siblings, after all. They were of the same flesh and blood—a family!

Noelle sat in the passenger seat of the red sports car. She was in quite a good mood as she extended her hand out of the window to feel the wind.

Cedric’s car eventually came to a stop at a red light. “Text me when your class gathering’s over.”

“I’m thinking of going back home.”

“It’s time you think it through and settle this once and for all.”

Noelle’s original plan was to leave the Liddell family as soon as the exams were over. She did not want to stay there even for a moment longer. Cedric continued, “What do you intend to do?”

Noelle smiled and replied, “I’ll cause a scene before I leave so that they won’t come and bother me again.”

His long fingers rested on the steering wheel. He could tell she was not as weak as he had imagined.

She patiently endured the time spent with the Liddells as she did not want to be distracted during the exams. He thought that was smart of her.

But the Liddells had no idea and assumed that she was throwing a tantrum.

Cedric dropped Noelle off at the restaurant. She then went to the class gathering by herself. The lively atmosphere after graduating felt like an appropriate send-off to her less fortunate previous life.

After the meal, Noelle took a taxi back to the Liddell residence.

Gordon was extremely shocked upon seeing her. “Ms. Liddell, you’re back?!”

Noelle replied, “This is my house. Is it strange for me to return home?” She no longer held herself back and crudely responded to Gordon before heading straight to her bedroom.

However, she saw that Xenia’s belongings were scattered around her room.

Gordon hurried forward and explained, “Ms. Xenia’s room was leaking two days ago, so she had temporarily moved into your room for a few days. Mr. Frank mentioned that since you’re both pals, you wouldn’t mind too much about it.”

Noelle slowly shook her head, revealing no emotion. She then picked up the used bedsheets and all of Xenia’s belongings and tossed them into the hallway.

Gordon was both shocked and furious. “Mr. Liddell, how could you do this?”
