Old Lady Wilson didn’t yet know about the divorce between Freya and Matteo. She smiled and called out, “Mag, Isabella, come and eat.” Freya and Matteo responded in unison, “Okay, we’re coming.” Isabella held Freya’s hand and happily walked toward the dining room.
Levi: “…” Levi followed and sat beside Matteo. Freya sat with Isabella.
Old Lady Wilson smiled and said, “Levi hasn’t been here in a while. When I saw you, I had the kitchen make two extra dishes you love. Make sure to eat a lot.”
Levi smiled, “Alright, Grandma, I’ll take care of these meat dishes!”
Old Lady Wilson: “Good, good!”
Freya served food to Isabella, picking out fish bones carefully and attentively. At first glance, it seemed no different from the past. But… Levi couldn’t help but look at them a little longer. Noticing his gaze, Freya coldly glanced over at him. Levi paused.
In the past, because he was especially close to Matteo and Harry, he knew Freya wanted to get along with them. But they had always looked down on her. Yet Freya never gave up. She wasn’t great at socializing, but she would always take the initiative, warmly greeting them with a gentle smile.
But now, the look in Freya’s eyes was icy. It was like looking at a stranger with no connection to her. At this moment, Levi suddenly realized that the way Freya looked at Isabella was similar—her demeanor toward her daughter was still warm, but the gaze lacked the same love it once held. Instead, it was cold.
Was it fake? Levi could understand the shift in her attitude toward him, since no one would want to keep giving warmth to someone who kept ignoring them. But Isabella was her daughter! How could that be? Maybe this was one of her tactics. Perhaps it was to catch Matteo’s attention and win him back by retreating first?
Thinking this, Levi shifted his gaze to Matteo. And then he realized that Matteo was indeed also looking at Freya. And he didn’t seem inclined to look away anytime soon. Had this ever happened before? It never would have, in the past. Levi smirked and sighed. He knew it.
Old Lady Wilson suddenly coughed lightly. “Levi, what are you looking at?” Noticing that Levi had been staring at Freya all evening, Old Lady Wilson frowned.
Levi quickly realized she must have misunderstood, so he said the words that would please her, “I just suddenly noticed that my sister-in-law is unusually quiet tonight and not taking the initiative to talk to Frank. I thought it was a little strange, so I couldn’t help but glance a little longer.”
Grandma Wilson naturally noticed that Freya was no longer as proactive with Matteo as she used to be. When it came to this, she couldn’t help but sigh, casting a glance at Matteo as she said, “It’s all Matteo’s fault!” The girl had been active for so long, but he never responded. Wouldn’t the girl feel cold and retreat?
Matteo only gave a faint smile when he heard this, not speaking a word. Freya now preferred to stay silent whenever she could. Hearing this, she simply silently picked up her chopsticks and continued eating, with no intention of speaking.
Before they had finished their meal, Matteo received a phone call. He glanced at the caller ID, stood up, and left to take the call. However, he quickly returned. After finishing his meal, he said to Grandma Wilson, “I have some matters to attend to, so I’ll leave first.”
Isabella was quite clever. She probably guessed that the call was from Raven, so she also planned to visit her at the hospital and said, “Dad, I want to go too.” Matteo responded, “Alright.”
Grandma Wilson then said, “Take Freya with you. Tomorrow happens to be Saturday; it’s a good opportunity for everyone to relax and take a walk.”
At this point, Freya finally spoke up, “Grandma, I have a friend to meet later.” Grandma Wilson was slightly taken aback, “…Alright then.”
Isabella, relieved that Freya wouldn’t be joining them, said, “Mom, goodbye.” Freya replied, “Goodbye.” As the car doors closed, Matteo’s car quickly drove off. Freya also drove off in her own car.
Once outside the old mansion, she called Johnny. As soon as the call was connected, she spoke directly, “I’m planning to divorce Matteo. He gave me a divorce agreement earlier and allocated some assets to me. I want to consult a lawyer to see if there are any legal loopholes in it.”
Johnny, who had been eating with someone, was delighted to hear this. He immediately responded, “I’ll help you contact a reliable lawyer!”
Freya smiled, “Alright.”
