Listen to this chapter:

Freya replied, “I’d like to know, too.” Last night, she wanted to talk to Matteo about this—to find out when they could officially get divorced. But Matteo had left suddenly last night, and he had forgotten what he promised her.

Johnny said, “Just get it over with.”

Freya nodded. “I know.”

At lunch, the manager came over to say that Raven was fine and that Matteo had taken her home to rest. The herbal medicine prepared by Old Master hadn’t been finished yet.

After leaving Wilson Tech that night, Freya returned to the old house. However, Matteo didn’t return. In fact, over the next couple of days, Matteo didn’t come back to the old house at all.

It seemed like Isabella was also aware that Raven had been injured, and that evening, he secretly slipped out of the old house. There was only one dose of medicine left.

On Friday, Freya returned to the old house, planning to drink the last dose of medicine and leave afterward. When she arrived at the old house, she found that Matteo had returned. She was taken aback for a moment, then remembered the divorce and went upstairs.

Matteo was in the living room on the second floor, and surprisingly, Levi was also there. When they saw her, they looked over. Matteo said, “You’re back.”

Freya simply responded with, “Mm.” She didn’t ask about Raven, as she wasn’t concerned. Not needing to avoid Levi, she directly spoke about the divorce, saying, “That day, I mentioned—”

But Matteo interrupted her before she could finish. “Take a look at this. If there are no objections, we can sign it.”

Freya took it. It was a divorce agreement. The first clause stated that he would have custody of Isabella. The rest listed the assets he was giving her, detailing several pages of various items.

She approached him simply to ask about the progress of their divorce. Now, seeing the agreement, she flipped through it casually without examining it carefully, then placed it back on the table and said, “I have no objections.”

With that, she opened her bag, pulled out a pen, and prepared to sign. Freya’s rise to power had been dishonorable. Although she despised Freya as a person, over the years, the depth of his love for Matteo was evident to both Franklin himself and Levi.

Given how much Freya loved Matteo, Levi had assumed that when Matteo wanted a divorce, Freya would be unable to accept it, would be deeply hurt, and would never agree to part ways with Matteo. What surprised him was that when Freya saw the divorce agreement, not only did she quickly agree, but she also had no objections to Matteo having custody of their daughter, Isabella. This was completely unexpected to Levi. He looked at Matteo in disbelief. Matteo, staring at Freya, seemed just as surprised by her quick acceptance of the divorce.

Freya took out the pen, bent down to sign, but then paused, retracting the pen.

Levi smirked. He knew it couldn’t be—

Freya said, “I’ll have a lawyer look over this divorce agreement tomorrow. Once I confirm there are no issues, I’ll sign it the day after tomorrow and have my lawyer contact you.”

There were a lot of assets listed for her in the agreement, and when she flipped through it earlier, she seemed to have seen some shares of his company. The previous divorce agreement she had given him didn’t involve her asking for anything. Now that he was offering, she wouldn’t refuse.

They had been married for many years. He had never loved her, but he also hadn’t set any traps for her. So, when she saw that he was offering her his assets, she had initially been inclined to sign immediately. But now, she hesitated. She was concerned that there might be flaws in the clauses. If there were any loopholes, she worried that she might be used as a scapegoat if something went wrong with his company in the future, especially since she now held shares. Matteo likely didn’t intend to harm her when the agreement was written. But she couldn’t rule out the possibility that after he married Raven, Raven might exploit these loopholes to make things difficult for her.

Matteo seemed not to have anticipated her precautions. After a brief pause, he said, “That’s fine.”

Freya nodded, put the divorce agreement back in her bag, zipped it up, and without saying another word, stood up and left. Levi watched her leave in disbelief and then turned to Matteo. “Is she okay?”

Matteo, still staring at Freya’s departing figure, only then withdrew his gaze and said lightly, “I don’t know.”

“And also, you’re fighting her for custody of Isabella, and she didn’t react at all. This…this is so strange.”

Matteo paused. “Mm.”

“Does she not want custody of Isabella? That can’t be right. Isabella is her heart and soul!”

As he said this, Levi suddenly seemed to have realized something and asked Matteo, “Wait, did you two already settle the custody matter beforehand?”

Matteo’s gaze darkened, pausing for a moment before answering, “No, we haven’t talked about it.”

“What the heck, then why?” Levi really began to question everything.

At that moment, Old Lady Wilson arrived in the elevator and said, “Dinner is ready. Freya and Isabella are already downstairs. Why are you two still sitting here? Hurry up and come down to eat.”

Levi snapped back to reality. “Ah, okay, coming.” Matteo also stood up.

Downstairs, Isabella was happily sitting on the couch, leaning next to Freya, talking to her. Freya sat next to her, watching Isabella attentively. It was a heartwarming scene of mother–daughter interaction. But remembering that Freya had quietly agreed to give up custody of Matteo, Levi felt that the scene before him seemed very fake. Levi furrowed his brows.
