Chapter 161
Freya was momentarily surprised. She hadn’t expected to run into him here. She slowly rolled down the window. “Mr. Becker.”
Harry’s gaze fell on her face. Seeing that her expression was calm and she didn’t look as worn-out as he had expected, he paused for a moment.
Freya spoke, “Is there something you need, Mr. Becker?”
Harry replied, “I came here for something. When I saw your car, I thought I’d come over and say hello.”
But given how well they knew each other, in this situation, he could have simply not come over to greet her. He thought this in his mind but didn’t say it aloud, since he had helped her before. Moreover, since she would be seeing him again when she visited Daisy, it wasn’t a bad idea to keep things from becoming too awkward.
Thinking of this, Freya nodded. “Then you go ahead, I—”
Harry interrupted, “I heard there’s a famous pastry shop around here, but I couldn’t find it after looking around. Do you know where the bakery is?”
Freya didn’t suspect anything and replied, “There is indeed a famous pastry shop nearby, but it’s not here; it’s on another street about a kilometer away.” She pointed out the directions.
Harry said, “Alright, thank you.”
“No problem.” At this moment, it was her turn for vehicle recognition, and she said, “Goodbye.”
“Goodbye,” Harry responded.
Harry actually knew the location of that cake shop. After Freya left, he didn’t go to the cake shop. He got into the car, hesitated for a moment, and then made a phone call: “Levi, I’m back. I have to catch a flight later, so check if Matteo is available. If he’s not, come with me to the hospital to see Raven.”
Levi was surprised: “You’re back? When did you come back?”
Harry didn’t answer his question: “Call Raven and ask if it’s a good time for her to see us.”
Levi wanted to ask why Harry didn’t call Matteo or Raven himself, but then realized that Harry probably had other urgent matters to attend to, and since he hadn’t seen Raven either, he agreed without asking further.
Matteo was unavailable. After hanging up, Harry bought a bouquet of flowers and a fruit basket, then went to the hospital to meet with Levi.
In the hospital room, when Raven saw him, she smiled and asked, “What made you suddenly come back?”
Harry calmly replied, “Came back to handle some matters.”
Raven lowered her head and gently stroked the flowers he had brought, saying, “I see…”
Was he really back to handle business, or did he specially make the long trip back just to see her? Although he didn’t come back immediately after she got injured, once he found the time, he rushed back to see her first. It was a thoughtful gesture.
Freya stayed at the Miller family house that night. The next day, she woke up early. Looking at the well-tended succulents on the windowsill, Freya stretched her back in a good mood. When she went downstairs, her aunt had already woken up and was busy making breakfast for her and the two children.
Seeing her, her aunt smiled and said, “Mag, you seem to be in a good mood today?”
Freya went over to help knead the dough, smiling, “Yeah, it’s pretty good.”
After a bowl of hot noodles was served, Freya was about to eat when her phone rang. It was another call from Matteo. Freya didn’t answer. Isabella kept calling. Freya simply turned off her phone and focused on eating her noodles.
Looking at the repeated calls that now couldn’t get through, Isabella pouted and went to find Matteo in the master bedroom. Matteo had just finished his morning run and was about to change clothes and shower when he saw her sulking. He asked, “What’s wrong?”
“I called Mom yesterday, wanting her to come home and cook for me, but she didn’t pick up. I called her twice again just now, but still no answer, and now it’s showing that the phone can’t be reached.”
Matteo listened and said, “Your mom might have turned her phone off.”
“Ah?” Isabella furrowed her brows. “Did it run out of battery?”
Matteo couldn’t deny it and said, “Maybe.”
“What should we do? I wanted to go skiing today, and Mom promised to take me if she had time.”
Originally, she didn’t want to go because Aunt Raven was injured, and she planned to stay at the hospital with her. But now that Aunt Raven was feeling better, and no one was there to accompany her, she was planning to ask her mom to go with her. Who knew her mom wouldn’t pick up the phone?
“Try calling later. Your mom should have her phone back on by then.”
Isabella wasn’t very happy but said, “Alright…”
Freya indeed wouldn’t leave her phone off. After all, she had a lot to talk about with Johnny. Later, Paul might contact her too. After more than half an hour, she turned her phone back on. Not long after, Isabella’s call came through again.
