Chapter 201
She glanced over at Matteo, who was sitting quietly nearby, watching them. “Dad, I want to eat here. Can we have the food packed and brought here?”
Matteo agreed, “Alright.”
Isabella smiled happily and continued clinging to Freya. Old Madam Miller and Old Madam Wilson still had plenty to talk about. Freya sat quietly, occasionally chiming in with a sentence here and there.
After a while, Isabella, feeling tired, asked, “Mom, when will you be done with work?”
Freya didn’t want Old Madam Miller to overhear, so she picked Isabella up and sat down on the sofa in the ward before answering, “I’m not sure, but if nothing unexpected happens, I’ll be even busier.”
“What?” Isabella was taken aback and looked disappointed. “Then when will you have time to take me skiing?” She had remembered this.
Freya thought for a moment and said, “Next month.”
“Really?”
“Yes,” Freya nodded. “When I have time, I’ll let you know.”
“Okay!” Isabella cheered up again. Then she suddenly remembered what happened last night and quickly asked, “By the way, Mom, did you go shopping last night?”
Freya paused for a moment but then answered, “Yes.”
“Ah? So the person I saw last night really was you?”
“Maybe,” Freya replied.
Just then, she noticed Matteo was looking at her from the side.

It had been a while since Isabella had gone shopping with Freya. Although there was a period when she found it boring just to walk around, now thinking back, she really missed it.
She said, “Next time when you’re free, can you take me shopping again? And we can go to the game center and play bumper cars.”
Freya withdrew her gaze and replied, “Okay.”
Isabella continued talking, but at that moment, Matteo picked up the cup of water that Freya had been drinking from, poured out the now-cold water, and refilled it with warm water. He placed the cup on the coffee table in front of her.
Freya glanced at it and softly thanked him.
Matteo nodded. “You’re welcome.” He then casually sat down on the nearby sofa.
Old Madam Wilson and Old Madam Miller were still chatting happily, but when they saw the three of them sitting together, Old Madam Wilson paused and stopped the conversation. Old Madam Miller followed her gaze but didn’t show any reaction, then turned her attention back to the conversation.
Old Madam Wilson sighed, “You say—”
“Since they’ve made a decision, we shouldn’t force them,” Old Madam Miller said.
Hearing this, Old Madam Wilson sighed again.
A short time later, the meal Matteo had ordered arrived. It was a large table full of dishes, obviously enough for more than just two people.
Matteo turned to Freya and said, “Let’s eat together.”
Freya noticed that half of the dishes were ones she liked to eat. Moreover, Matteo had made sure the dishes were placed on her side of the table.
Then, Matteo added, “Isabella, go call your great-grandmother to come eat.”

“Okay.”
Isabella immediately slid off Freya’s lap and went to tug Old Madam Miller’s hand, asking her to come eat.
Old Madam Wilson then urged, “Come eat a little; otherwise, I’ll feel embarrassed for asking you to come back tomorrow to accompany me.”
Old Madam Freya had no choice but to walk over and sit at the table.
Seeing that all the dishes in front of Freya were her favorites, Old Madam Miller paused for a moment and glanced at Matteo. Freya remained calm. As she had thought, with Matteo’s memory, remembering these details wasn’t anything remarkable. The reason he prepared all of this was probably just out of gratitude for them coming to visit Old Madam Wilson. It didn’t mean anything more than that.
After dinner, Freya and Old Madam Miller sat for over an hour before they prepared to leave. As it was getting late, Old Madam Wilson didn’t insist on keeping them any longer and said to Matteo, “You and Isabella should head home too.”
“Alright,” Matteo replied, “I’ll come to see you tomorrow morning.”
Freya, Matteo, and the others left the hospital together.
Once in the elevator, Matteo asked, “Did you drive here yourself?”
“Yes,” Freya answered.
Matteo didn’t say anything else, but Isabella, who had been quiet, suddenly remembered something and asked, “Mom, are you not going home tonight?”
Freya replied, “I’ll be taking Grandma back home, and I’m staying over at her place, so I won’t be going back.”
“I want to stay at Grandma’s house too!” Isabella quickly said.
Although Isabella was closer to Matteo now, to Old Madam Miller, Isabella would always be Freya’s daughter.
Before Freya could answer, Old Madam Miller smiled gently and said, “Alright, alright.”
Seeing how Old Madam Miller was speaking, Freya didn’t feel like refusing, but she still reminded Isabella, “You don’t have any change of clothes at Grandma’s house.”
Before Isabella had left for overseas with Matteo, she used to visit Freya’s family frequently. Back then, half of the wardrobe in Freya’s room was filled with clothes that she and her Aunt Helen had prepared for Isabella. But since Isabella hadn’t been back to Freya’s place as much over the past two years, and she had grown so quickly, Freya and Aunt Helen hadn’t bought her new clothes as often. Now, there were no suitable clothes for her at Miller’s house.
“Ah?” Isabella pouted, looking disappointed. “Then—”
Just then, Matteo spoke up. “I’ll call and have someone deliver some clothes over.”
