Chapter 205
Tracy was caught off guard. Grandma Wilson's fall had already pushed the Brown and Green families out of Wilson. For the past few days, both families had worried Grandma Wilson might use her condition to force Matteo to break up with Raven, hoping he would cave in. Now, however, Matteo wasn't caving; he had taken care of everything with the Miller family.
Tracy felt relieved and asked, “So, is the project a way for Matteo to thank the Miller family?”
“Yes,” Raven replied. “It’s both a gesture of gratitude and a way to draw a clear line.”
Tracy couldn’t help but praise, “Matteo is really thorough. No wonder he’s managed to run all his businesses so well.”
This should have pleased Tracy, but something seemed to worry her. “But…now that the Miller family has taken on a project from Cole, they’re already showing signs of recovery. If they also take on a project from Frank, won’t the Miller family really come back to life?”
As soon as she finished speaking, Raven’s expression turned cold. “They didn’t take the project.”
“They didn’t?” Tracy was surprised.
Before Raven could respond, Tracy seemed to understand. “So, they’re trying to make Matteo owe them a favor to keep Freya attached to him? They really know how to play the game.”
Tracy was determined not to let the Miller family manipulate the situation. With Matteo and Freya almost officially divorced, she didn’t want any complications to arise. She added, “We can’t let them get the upper hand in this!”
Raven, on the other hand, remained calm. “Don’t worry, Matteo will handle it.”
Tracy, remembering that Matteo had never let them down, felt a little more at ease. Since he was willing to give them the project, he must have anticipated the Miller family’s moves and had countermeasures in place.
Tracy relaxed and finally asked, “By the way, have you visited Grandma Wilson recently?”
Raven replied, “No.”
Tracy looked slightly disappointed, but Raven added, “Grandma needs to recover properly without any distractions.”
At this time, she felt no need to go. Although Matteo had stabilized the relationship with the Miller family and helped Grandma Wilson undergo surgery, the recovery process would take time, and Grandma Wilson would still need the Miller family’s support. Raven was in no rush.
During lunch, Freya bought movie tickets for herself and the kids. After eating, they watched the movie and then spent some time shopping. While Xavier went to try on clothes and Hugo went to buy figurines, Freya sat with Isabella and said, “I’ll send you home later.”
“Home?” Isabella, sitting beside her, replied, “I’m not going home. I’ll stay at Grandma’s tonight and come back tomorrow evening.”
Freya took a sip of water and said, “Xavier and Hugo have already spent the whole day with you. They need some quiet time to do their homework, and you might disturb them at the Miller house.”
“I don’t need them to stay with me. I can play on my tablet by myself,” Isabella said, clearly not bothered.
Freya didn’t argue further but took the opportunity to send a message to Matteo, asking him to have someone pick up Isabella later. Matteo, possibly busy, didn’t reply right away.
After Xavier finished shopping, they wandered around a bit before heading back to the Miller family house. The moment they arrived, both Old Lady Miller and Jason were thrilled to see Isabella. They truly doted on her, and Isabella was sweet as always, spending time with Old Lady Miller and even going for a walk with her after dinner, making her grandmother incredibly happy.
Yet, Matteo still hadn’t replied. That evening, Isabella ended up staying at the Miller house. The next day, Xavier and Hugo dutifully stayed in their rooms to do homework, while Isabella, as promised, found things to do downstairs or quietly sat next to Freya, not causing any disturbances.
Just then, Matteo’s message arrived, telling her that he’d send someone to pick up Isabella soon. Freya didn’t respond. A few seconds later, Isabella’s phone rang, and she turned to Freya. “It’s Dad.”
Freya nodded. “Mm.” She didn’t know exactly what Matteo had said, but when Isabella hung up, she said, “Mom, Dad said he wants to take me out to play.”
Freya smiled faintly. “Mm, he told me, too. If you want to go, then go ahead.”
“Okay!” Isabella was excited.
About half an hour later, a car arrived to pick up Isabella. Old Lady Miller, upon hearing that Isabella was leaving, seemed reluctant. She, as usual, packed a lot of food for Isabella to take with her. Watching the car leave, she muttered, “I thought he was being generous, but now…after just two days, he’s rushing to take her back.”
Before Freya could respond, Old Lady Miller walked away, a bit melancholy. Just then, Freya’s phone rang again. It was her lawyer, Paul.
He spoke first, “I’ve met with Matteo’s lawyer, and I’ve received the new agreement. The additional three properties total about a billion in value, and everything looks good.”
Freya responded, “Okay, I understand.”
Paul continued, “Matteo’s lawyer mentioned that if you need money urgently, he can transfer part of the assets to your account in advance. What do you think?”
