Chapter 206
Yesterday, Matteo had misunderstood her intentions. The birthday gifts he’d bought for her grandmother had already been auctioned, and the money was secured. For now, Jason wasn’t short of funds.
However, Freya thought for a moment and replied, “Then have him prepay.” They hadn’t officially divorced yet, and things were still uncertain. Since he was offering, why not take it? After all, she might not get another chance later.
Paul replied, “Okay, I’ll arrange it.”
After Isabella left, Freya went upstairs to work on her computer, busying herself with her tasks. About an hour later, Paul sent over some documents for her to review. Freya opened the documents, and the first thing she noticed was the three additional properties. Their specific locations were clearly marked.
She paused. These three properties were all vacant units in the Miller family’s residential complex, and their locations were relatively close to the Miller family home.
To be honest, although Matteo had already helped her purchase the unit in front of the Miller family’s house, that hadn’t completely alleviated her concerns. After all, her grandmother liked to go for walks, and even if the Green family didn’t live directly opposite her grandmother, living in the same complex would make things a bit too close for comfort. She had always been a little worried.
But now… Looking at the new agreement, it seemed that Matteo was once again helping her solve her lingering worries. Though he was simply expressing his gratitude and trying to prevent her from overthinking, these three properties really did hit the mark for her. As for the rest, she didn’t want to dwell on it or care too much.
She flipped to the next document. The file also mentioned that Matteo would first transfer 2 billion to her for working capital. Although she had already seen the extent of his wealth when he bought properties for the Brown family, seeing him casually throw out billions still surprised her.
After confirming that everything was in order, Freya contacted Paul. Not long after signing, the money was transferred to her account. As for the properties, Matteo’s lawyer mentioned that the transfer paperwork was still in process, and in a couple of days, he would send her the property deeds.
After handling all of this, the morning passed quickly. Since Grandma Wilson had just undergone surgery, Old Lady Miller seemed concerned about her recovery and decided to visit the hospital in the afternoon. Freya went along as well. Since she’d be busy with work starting Monday, she might not have time to visit Grandma Wilson again for a while.
When they arrived at the hospital, Freya happened to see Raven. She wasn’t concerned about the relationship between Raven and Matteo at this point. The last time she had seen Raven outside, standing by the car, she hadn’t thought much of it.
But today, the weather was quite cold, with a slight breeze, yet Raven was still standing outside. Freya immediately understood – she was standing there intentionally, to show her that she and Matteo were fine, and that no matter what Freya did, she couldn’t come between them.
Freya smiled lightly but didn’t respond. Instead, she looked at Old Lady Miller. Old Lady Miller happened to be looking down, not noticing Raven. Freya didn’t bring it up, choosing to focus on her grandmother instead. She took her grandmother’s arm and walked toward the hospital entrance.
Since Raven was downstairs, it meant that Matteo would likely be in the room too. As expected, when they entered the room, Matteo was indeed there. Seeing them, he gave a brief greeting. Freya’s expression was cold.
Grandma Wilson, on the other hand, was visibly happy to see them and held Old Lady Miller’s hand, saying, “You’re here again, old friend. Thank you for visiting me.”
“Don’t mention it, we’ve been friends for so many years,” Old Lady Miller replied with a smile. They both sat down, and it was clear to them that Grandma Wilson’s spirit and complexion had improved significantly from the past couple of days. They were both reassured.
Freya and Old Lady Miller had spent about half an hour with Old Lady Wilson, when Matteo spoke up, saying, “I’ll go out for a while.” During that time, Matteo had been more of an observer, not saying much. Upon hearing his words, Old Lady Wilson grumbled, “If you’re going, then just go.”
And with that, Matteo left the hospital room. But he didn’t return for another half hour. Earlier, when Aunt Garner was here, she had been very attentive, making sure to look after the fruits, snacks, and tea. However, once Aunt Garner stepped away, Freya noticed that the tea in Old Lady Miller’s cup had cooled down. So, she got up to prepare a new pot of tea.
Old Lady Wilson, seeing Freya getting up to make the tea herself, furrowed her brows and said, “Frank, really, where did he go? It’s been so long, he’s still not back.”
At first, Freya hadn’t thought much of it when Matteo had said he was stepping out. But now, hearing Old Lady Wilson’s complaint, she remembered that Raven was downstairs. Matteo probably went to accompany her so she wouldn’t get bored waiting. But for him to be gone for so long… It did seem a bit clingy.
