Chapter 243
The next day, Freya and Johnny picked up Nolan and headed to the reserved restaurant. As soon as they arrived and stepped out of the car, Freya spotted Reed and Jordan. Nolan had mentioned someone wanted to meet her, so she had assumed it would be someone she hadn’t met before. She hadn’t expected Reed and Jordan to be there as well.
Freya greeted them, “Uncle Hardin, Uncle Hall.” Reed and Jordan smiled and nodded. After some brief pleasantries, they were about to head upstairs when a voice called out behind them, “You’re all leaving without me?”
Freya turned around and, upon seeing the newcomer, was momentarily stunned. Wasn’t he from the Ministry of National Defense? Nolan remained expressionless as he introduced him, “Quaid Barber.”
Quaid toned down the intimidating presence he usually exuded during interviews, smiled warmly, and extended his hand toward Freya. “Freya, is it? I’ve heard a lot about you.”
“Yes,” Freya replied. “Nice to meet you.”
“Everyone’s here,” another voice said. A second car door opened, and yet another familiar face from the news stepped out. Nolan said flatly, “Ryan Gibson.”
Freya shook hands with him and was about to speak when another voice interrupted, “Dad?” Rex stepped out of the car, stunned to see so many high-profile figures gathered. But what shocked him even more was that Freya was among them. However, seeing that Johnny and Nolan were also present, it didn’t seem so surprising to see Freya in this setting. Reed didn’t expect to run into his son here either. He asked, “Came here to socialize?” Rex replied, “Yes.”
Quaid smiled and said, “Reed, is this your son?” Reed smiled, “Yes.” “A talented young man, very impressive.” Rex, naturally, knew who Quaid, Ryan, and the others were. He also knew that his father had a good relationship with them. But Quaid, Ryan, and Nolan were very busy on a daily basis, and even though they were acquainted with his father, he had never actually met them in person. When Quaid actively greeted him, Rex politely shook his hand and said, “You flatter me.”
As he spoke, he noticed Raven and Logan getting out of the car. He paused for a moment. Logan and Raven also froze when they saw Rex, Nolan, Ryan, and the others. It was rare to see any of Nolan and Ryan on a normal day, let alone having all of them gathered together here. Naturally, they also noticed Freya and Johnny. Johnny was a student of Nolan. Now that Cole was doing so well, he could be considered a source of pride for Nolan. It was normal for Nolan to introduce some of his contacts to him.
Like Rex, they all assumed that Freya must have met Nolan and Ryan through Johnny’s connections. But honestly, whether through someone else’s connections or not, being able to meet Ryan and Nolan was a great honor in itself. They had heard about Nolan’s deep connections before. Now, after seeing how many top-tier big shots he knew, they realized just how powerful Nolan’s network truly was! Besides that, they also recognized Jordan and Reed. Raven knew that they were Jimmy and Rex’s fathers. When Rex looked over at them, Raven gave a polite smile and nodded. Noticing Rex’s gaze, Reed followed his gaze. He didn’t know or recognize Raven and Logan. Seeing that Rex seemed to care, he asked, “Do you know them?” Rex replied, “Yes.”
Raven and Logan came over. When they saw them approach, Johnny almost rolled his eyes. Freya’s expression remained unchanged. Rex introduced, “This is Raven, the daughter of Logan Brown, the CEO of the Brown Group.”
Reed’s attitude was a bit different when he looked at Raven. Reed raised an eyebrow. He noticed that Raven was not only stunningly beautiful but also had great presence. He felt that Rex had good taste. Since Rex had actively introduced her, he courteously greeted both Logan and Raven and shook their hands. Jordan had met Raven before and knew she was Matteo’s girlfriend. When Raven walked over, he glanced at Freya. Although Freya had no obvious expression on his face, Jordan could tell that when Freya saw Logan and Raven, his expression immediately turned cold. Although he knew that she had been married to Matteo, he wasn’t sure about the specifics of their relationship or why they had divorced. Seeing her cold reaction upon seeing Raven, Jordan immediately had a guess.
After Raven greeted Reed, she turned to Nolan and politely said, “Mr. Nolan.” Nolan nodded coldly but didn’t speak. Earlier, Matteo had mentioned that Nolan was cold to everyone and that it wasn’t specifically directed at her. Therefore, Raven didn’t take Nolan’s coldness personally. After greeting Nolan, Raven then turned and politely greeted Ryan and the others, “Hello, leaders.” She addressed them as “leaders” without greeting each one individually, which was the more proper approach. After all, Ryan and the others hadn’t indicated they wanted to be introduced to her, and greeting each of them individually would have been more of an intrusion.
Quaid and Ryan’s attention was primarily focused on Freya. They, like Jordan, had noticed that Freya didn’t seem to like Logan and Raven. Quaid, in particular, had detailed information about Freya. When Raven and Logan first appeared, he had recognized them immediately. Hearing Raven greet them, Quaid simply nodded and then looked toward Nolan and Freya, saying, “Let’s not stand here. We should head inside.” Nolan nodded. The group turned and entered the restaurant.
