Chapter 244
Reed reminded Rex, “Don’t drink too much.”
Rex responded, “I won’t.”
Reed said nothing further. He nodded to Raven and Logan before turning to follow Nolan and the others. Rex didn’t follow immediately. Since Reed didn’t ask him to come along, it meant the conversation they were about to have wasn’t something he was supposed to overhear. If he wasn’t supposed to listen in, then why was Freya allowed to go in? Thinking this, he furrowed his brow. However, he didn’t dwell on it long and turned his attention to Raven and Logan. “Are you two also here for business?” he asked.
Logan and Raven nodded. “Yes, is Rex here for business too?”
“Yes.”
Logan added, “I heard Rex’s company has launched a new project recently. We’re quite interested. When would be a good time for you, Rex…”
Rex’s company had indeed launched a new project. But it was still in the planning phase, and the exact timeline wasn’t clear yet. Through Matteo’s help, and with Logan’s efforts over the past few months, the Brown Group had stabilized its position. If there was a suitable project, there was no harm in collaborating with them.
Thinking this, Rex nodded and said, “We can set up a time to discuss it in a few days.”
As they continued talking, Rex’s gaze remained on Raven. The last time he saw Matteo approach Freya at the seminar, he had considered contacting Raven to inform her about the incident. But he knew that doing so wasn’t appropriate. After all, they weren’t very familiar with each other. Moreover, since Raven and Matteo had such a close relationship, even if he told her, she probably wouldn’t believe him. He had also heard about Matteo giving Raven shares of Wilson Tech. He wasn’t sure whether Matteo had originally planned to give Raven shares or if Raven had already known about it, and Matteo gave her the shares as a form of compensation. Rex looked at her with a thoughtful gaze. It seemed like he had something he wanted to say to her. But since he didn’t initiate the conversation, Raven pretended not to notice. Aside from that, she was also curious about why Nolan and the others were here today. But since Freya was able to appear with them, it seemed unlikely that they were discussing anything too important. Thinking this, Raven smiled and said, “Rex, our other guests have arrived, so let’s go inside.”
Rex replied, “My people have arrived too. Let’s go together.”
Raven said, “Alright.”
In the private room:
Quaid smiled, “We’ve met many geniuses, but there are very few like you, Freya, who have already achieved impressive results at such a young age. That’s why Ryan and I, along with the others, wanted to meet you. I hope it’s not causing you any inconvenience.”
Quaid, being a person in a high position, spoke so politely. Freya respectfully replied, “You’re too kind, it’s an honor for me to meet you.”
Ryan smiled and said to Quaid, “Alright, don’t scare the young one.”
Both felt that Freya was an exceptionally outstanding young person with limitless potential. They both had high hopes for her and simply wanted to meet her. Quaid and Ryan were very polite in their speech, and with Jordan and Reed present, the atmosphere in the private room was very pleasant. After finishing their meal, the group continued talking for about an hour. After exchanging contact details with Quaid and Ryan, they finally dispersed.
Monday was the first day of school for elementary and middle school students in the capital. This semester, Xavier started staying at school, as his aunt had matters to attend to back home, and Jason was busy. On Sunday afternoon, Freya sent Xavier to school. When they arrived at the school, Freya saw the Brown family and the Green family. Behind them were three servants carrying large and small bags of luggage, clearly indicating that they had a considerable presence. So, Landon had transferred to school here too? It was very difficult to transfer to this school without connections and influence. Without a doubt, Landon’s transfer here had been facilitated by Matteo’s help. Landon starting school, and the entire Brown family turning out to send him off, showed how much they valued and pampered him.
Landon was indeed a child raised in pampering – carefree, sunny, and optimistic. Seeing how Brown Old Madam lovingly looked at Landon, Freya was reminded of the time when she had firmly held her hand and said that she only recognized her as her granddaughter. Even though many years had passed, Freya still found it ironic. At that moment, the Brown family and Green family also noticed her. When they saw her, their smiles faded.
Just then, someone passed by, noticing the luxury suitcase behind the Brown family’s servants. The person couldn’t help but exclaim, “Oh my, that suitcase is worth over 30,000 dollars. I didn’t think anyone would actually buy such an expensive one. Wealthy people are really different!” When the person noticed the Brown family looking over, he immediately felt embarrassed and hurriedly apologized before running off with his friends.
In fact, even without that person’s remark, Freya had noticed the luggage. Not just the suitcase, but also the bags and boxes used to pack the luggage were all genuine leather, and each one cost several thousand dollars, some even tens of thousands. The luggage used by Landon added up to several hundred thousand dollars. Meanwhile, Janice’s handbag was a limited edition worth over a million.
Hearing the praise, Brown Old Madam and Sophia looked toward Freya. Seeing that Xavier’s luggage was only half the size of Landon’s and that his suitcase and bags were all cheap ones worth just a few hundred or a few thousand dollars, Brown Old Madam quickly withdrew her gaze, her expression becoming indifferent. Sophia, on the other hand, scoffed loudly.
