In the eyes of the Brown and Green families, although the Miller family had managed to stabilize their company, it would take some time before they turned a profit. After helping Xavier settle his luggage and leaving the school, Freya returned to her residence. She had just entered when there was a knock at the door. It was Tommy’s mother and daughter. They had just returned from their hometown and, seeing Freya home, had come specially to deliver some local specialties. Freya took the gifts and said, “Thank you.” Tommy obediently replied, “You’re welcome!” Then, she pulled a small ornament out of her pocket. “This is a gift I specially kept for Isabella. Tomorrow, I’ll bring it to school and give it to her!”
Tommy really liked Isabella. Since Isabella had called her on New Year’s Day, their relationship had improved a lot. Tommy continued happily chatting with Freya about things related to school, but Freya, listening, remembered that Isabella hadn’t called her recently. Tomorrow was the first day of school. Since Isabella hadn’t called, it was clear that she didn’t expect Freya to take her to school. That made sense, as Isabella didn’t lack people to take her. Tomorrow, it was likely that not just Matteo, but also Raven would be accompanying him to send Isabella to school.
Freya smiled, chatted a little longer with Tommy and her mother, and then took the local specialties they had given her to the living room. The next day, she went back to the company and continued recruiting technical staff. At lunch, Tommy’s mother sent her several photos of Isabella at a school event today. One of the photos even featured both Raven and Matteo. So, it really was because of Raven that Isabella didn’t want Freya to take her to school. Freya glanced at Matteo and Raven in the photo, just about to close it when she realized the photo had disappeared. It seemed that Tommy’s mother had accidentally selected the photo and, upon realizing it, had quickly removed it. As for her marriage with Matteo, Freya hadn’t discussed it much with Tommy’s mother. After a divorce, the parent with custody of the child usually controls the frequency of visits from the non-custodial parent.
Tommy’s mother thought that Freya didn’t see Isabella often and assumed she must miss her child. So, after the event, she kindly sent Freya some pictures of Isabella.
Sometimes, explaining one’s personal situation to others could be a hassle. Tommy’s mother was simply being thoughtful, and Freya replied, “Thank you.”
On Wednesday, Freya and Johnny were handling some business near the Wilson family’s old residence. After finishing their business, as they were getting into the car, they saw a car coming from a side road. That side road only led to the Wilson family’s old residence. Freya recognized that it was Matteo’s usual car. Just as Freya was about to look away, Matteo’s car stopped by the roadside, and Matteo and Raven both got out of the car. Freya paused. They were coming from the Wilson family’s old residence. So, Matteo was taking Raven to meet the matriarch of the Wilson family?
Johnny followed her gaze and also saw Matteo and Raven. The Gray family and the Wilson family had a general relationship. Johnny had never been to the Wilson family’s old residence, and he didn’t know that it was located nearby. Seeing Matteo and Raven, Johnny pursed his lips. “Why are they here too?” Freya withdrew her gaze and said, “That’s the only route leading to the Wilson family’s old residence.” Johnny was stunned for a moment, then suddenly realized. “So, Matteo is taking Raven back to meet his family now?”
Before Freya could respond, Johnny chuckled with a hint of anger. “Your divorce certificate isn’t finalized yet, right? And now he’s already bringing her back to the old residence? Is he really that eager?”
It did look like Matteo was quite eager. But Freya knew that Matteo had tried before to bring Raven back to meet his family. The problem was that the matriarch didn’t approve, and with the old man in poor health, along with various objections, Matteo had been forced to compromise. Now, after all this time, he was finally taking Raven back to the old residence. This had clearly been a long-awaited decision. Given that she and Matteo were now preparing for divorce, it was understandable that he would seize the opportunity when it came.
Johnny looked at her again and asked, “By the way, how much longer until your divorce certificate is finalized?” Freya answered, “I’m not sure. The last time I asked Matteo, he said it was almost done.” But since the last time she asked, so much time had passed, and she still hadn’t received any update from his side. Johnny pursed his lips. “Who knows what he’s up to? He’s the one eager to divorce and marry Raven, yet he’s the one dragging his feet about the divorce certificate. Next time you see him, remind him to hurry up and finalize the divorce so you don’t have to keep dealing with him!” Freya smiled when she heard that. “Okay.”
