Chapter 47
Sherry was beautiful, dressed in designer brands. She glanced at Freya a few times, noting Freya's clean, elegant air. Her gaze held a hint of scrutiny, but she didn't express it openly. Instead, she enthusiastically extended her hand, introducing herself: "Hello, Freya, I'm Sherry. Please guide me in the next few days."
Freya shook her hand. "You're too polite."
Sherry replied, "I graduated from T University with a master's degree this June. Freya, which school did you graduate from? You—"
She just graduated earlier this year? Freya thought. So Sherry probably has little to no work experience, yet they're asking her to replace me? This was merely an assumption, however. Perhaps Sherry possessed unique strengths. After all, there were plenty of master's graduates in the office, yet she was still team leader.
Thinking this, Freya gently interrupted, "Sherry, we have a meeting shortly; let's discuss work first."
Sherry exclaimed coquettishly, "Ah, look at me, I almost forgot the main business. Let's talk about work first."
On the way to the meeting, Sherry lowered her voice and asked, "Freya, I heard President Matteo is very handsome. Is it true?"
Freya nodded, "Mmm."
Sherry's eagerness was evident. "Hearing you say that makes me even more excited to meet President Matteo. It's a pity Secretary Jake said he won't be at the company today…"
Freya didn't know Matteo wouldn't be at the company. However, he had many personal engagements, so his absence from Wilson Group wasn't surprising.
By noon, Sherry took her to the cafeteria. After getting their food, Freya called Isabella.
Sherry teased, "Calling your boyfriend?"
"No, I'm calling my daughter."
"Your daughter? Are you married?"
"Yes."
On the other end, Isabella was video chatting with Raven, and Matteo was also there. Seeing them, Isabella pouted, "You guys are bad! You secretly ate together without me."
Matteo said, "Because you're at school, sweetheart. After class, Auntie will pick you up, and we'll have dinner together later, okay?"
"That's more like it," Isabella replied, glancing at Matteo.
Matteo fed Raven a bite of food. "What would you like to eat tonight? I'll have someone prepare it for you."
Isabella, now happier, began listing her favorite foods as Matteo listened. After she finished, Raven complimented her clothes: "The clothes you're wearing today look really good. They suit you perfectly."
"Really?"
Raven smiled, "Of course, they do." Then she asked, "How was your day at school? Did you get along with the other kids?"
The conversation flowed easily, with Raven and Isabella chatting happily. Matteo rarely interrupted, eating his meal slowly with a knife and fork. Unbeknownst to them, a waiter watched, assuming they were a family of three, and sent an envious glance toward Raven.
At that moment, Isabella saw Freya's video call. Freya had requested the call earlier that morning. But now, Isabella was enjoying her conversation with Raven and hesitant to end it.
This morning, seeing Freya with another child hadn't pleased her. But today, her teacher had said parents love their children most, and each child is unique and irreplaceable in a mother's heart. This reassured her.
Freya, noticing the unanswered call, worried and called the teacher. From the children's lounge, the teacher chuckled upon hearing the reason. "Don't worry, Isabella is fine. She's currently video chatting with her dad and what seems to be an aunt. Hold on, I'll tell her—"
