Chapter 50

“Sorry.”

“My bad.”

Freya and the other person both stepped back and apologized simultaneously. When she looked up, Freya froze. He was Harry, Matteo’s other close friend. Harry recognized her, of course. Upon seeing her, his already cold expression grew even more distant, a change Freya noticed immediately.

She had known Matteo since she was ten. Matteo, along with Harry and the others, had grown up together; they were, and always had been, very close. As children, they went to school and played together. As adults, they collaborated on projects and met regularly. Yet, whether during childhood or after marriage, Matteo consistently excluded her from his circle of friends. So, even though she had known Harry, Levi, and the others for over a decade, they had remained mere acquaintances—not even nodding acquaintances.

But after Matteo met Raven, he introduced her to Harry and the others. This explained why, when Raven had a birthday, Matteo enlisted Harry and the others to help celebrate. Similarly, when Raven was racing this time, Harry and the others had come to watch. Raven, it was said, had become very close to Harry and the others—so close that, even without Matteo, they always invited her to gatherings. They had fully accepted her as one of their own.

Perhaps because of this, in the last two years, their attitude toward Freya had grown even colder. In the past, she had wanted to build a better relationship with them, but they had never shown any interest. They never gave her a chance; they had always been cold. She also had her pride. Since their attitude was clear, she stopped forcing the issue. However, when they met, she would always greet them politely. Many times, however, she was met with indifference, or even disdain.

This time, Freya didn't plan to say anything. She simply bypassed Harry and left. But Harry spoke up, “Miss Freya, you’re also interested in racing?” His tone was indifferent. Freya instantly detected his implication—he suspected she had come to follow Matteo. She turned around and coldly asked, “What are you trying to say?”

Harry showed no shame at being exposed. “I just thought someone like you wouldn't be into racing, so I was curious.”

“Someone like me?” Freya locked eyes with him. “Mr., are we that familiar? Do you know me well? Since you think you understand me so well, why don’t you tell me what kind of person you think I am?”

Chapter 50 (continued)

Freya had always given Harry the impression of being quiet, gentle, and even a little shy. But he believed this was merely a facade; in reality, he thought she was very scheming. Otherwise, she wouldn't have done something so vile to regain Matteo's attention back then. Even after the fact, she still pretended to be innocent and refused to admit her culpability.

Harry didn’t respond. He just stared. He couldn't be bothered to judge her, nor did he desire to. But Freya's manner today was different. It was as if she had shed her disguise and no longer wished to pretend. Yet, it didn't quite feel that way either. The look in Freya’s eyes was cold, sharp, and clear, with a hint of sarcasm, as if mocking him for believing he could see through her. He had placed himself on a moral high ground and recklessly judged her without discerning right from wrong.

Freya didn’t care what Harry thought. She withdrew her gaze and left.

Stella had rented a house near the school for York. Freya took him back to the area near the school; it was already 11 PM. York, still growing, was hungry again despite having eaten dinner. He said, “Sister-in-law, the late-night snacks over there are great. Let me treat you.”

Chapter 51

Freya hadn’t eaten dinner and was craving something warm to fill her stomach, so…
