Chapter 63

Perhaps because they hadn't officially divorced yet, Matteo hadn't wanted to disturb the elderly lady and hadn't let anyone touch her belongings. Freya pulled herself back from her thoughts, gathered a set of pajamas and a towel, and left the master bedroom for Isabella's room.

Isabella was sitting on the bed, playing with her tablet. Seeing the clothes in Freya's hand, she asked curiously, "Mommy, are you going to take a bath in my room?"

Freya replied, "Mmm."

She hadn't been in the bathroom long when Matteo entered Isabella's room. Noticing her glance towards the bathroom, Isabella said, "Mommy is taking a shower inside."

Matteo responded, "Mhm." He then asked, "Did you ask your mommy to take a shower here?"

"No, Mommy brought her own clothes over," Isabella replied.

Matteo didn't ask further. He spoke to her briefly, telling her to rest early before leaving.

In the bathroom, Freya heard some noise, realizing Matteo had arrived, but couldn't make out their conversation. Isabella was still recovering from her illness and, after taking medicine, was prone to drowsiness. Seeing it was late, Freya decided to lie down beside her on the bed after showering.

Isabella nestled into her arms, rubbing her cheek against Freya's shoulder. "Mommy, you smell so good and feel so soft," she murmured. She felt that being in Mommy's arms was the most comfortable place, even more so than Aunt Raven's.

However, knowing Freya disliked Raven, she didn't say that aloud. Isabella quickly fell asleep. Freya, too, was tired and soon drifted off.

Ever since Isabella fell ill, she had developed a habit of kicking off her covers. It had become a worry, but Freya still cared for her as she always had. She woke up several times throughout the night, carefully covering Isabella up each time to ensure she didn't catch a cold before returning to sleep herself.

That night, Freya didn't sleep well, but woke as soon as dawn broke. Isabella was still asleep. Freya quietly got out of bed and looked out the window. She saw Matteo running downstairs. He usually ran for about an hour before returning.

After washing up, Freya changed clothes and went downstairs to the kitchen to prepare breakfast. Half an hour later, she handed the remaining tasks over to Aunt Sara. After confirming Isabella no longer had a fever, she went upstairs to grab her bag and car keys before leaving.

Not long after she left, Isabella woke up. She looked around, didn't find Freya, and asked, "Where's Mommy?"

Aunt Sara answered, "Madam has gone out for something."

Isabella pouted, "Oh..."

Aunt Sara smiled. "But before Madam left, she already prepared breakfast for you."

Isabella's mood brightened a little. She wasn't completely well yet, but she was feeling better and hungry, so after washing up, she went downstairs to eat.

Not long after, Matteo came downstairs as well. Not seeing Freya, he paused and asked Aunt Sara, "Where's Madam?"

"Oh, Madam went out," she replied.

Matteo didn't ask any more questions.

When Freya returned home, she ate quickly, packed her laptop and some essentials, and was about to head to the company when the doorbell rang. Freya glanced at the surveillance camera at the door and saw Mrs. Smith and her daughter, Tommy.

Freya opened the door. "Mrs. Smith..."

Mrs. Smith looked anxious. "Miss Miller, Tiantian's grandmother is sick, and I need to take her to the hospital. Could you help me take Tommy to school?"

Since Tommy and Isabella attended the same kindergarten and the school was on her way to work, Freya agreed.

Twenty minutes later, while looking for a parking spot at the kindergarten, she saw Matteo, Raven, and Isabella together. Isabella looked cheerful, holding hands with Raven and skipping happily, clearly delighted. Matteo stood beside Raven, carefully keeping them away from traffic and crowds.

Tommy also saw Isabella. "Sister, it's Bella!"

Freya lowered her gaze. "Yes, Auntie saw."

"That pretty auntie holding Bella's hand... Is she also Bella's mommy? Does Bella have two mommies?"

Freya didn't answer. She gently patted Tommy's head and said, "Auntie is helping you today. Don't tell Bella, okay?"
