Chapter 103
“What if I say no?” Jonathan asked.
“Jonathan, you know Lilian interfered in my relationship. I will never do the same. Even if we just want to be happy and have no feelings, I’ll never destroy other people’s,” Cynthia said.
“Cynthia, don’t you miss the three years we were together at all?” Jonathan asked.
Cynthia smiled and shook her head. “Jonathan, you’re no different from Filip. Even your tone of voice is the same.”
When Cynthia compared him to Filip, Jonathan’s face darkened.
“Jonathan, this doesn’t have to be a falling out. There’s no real love between us. Let’s break up amicably. I hope you and Ms. Sullivan have a happy ending. If you send me a wedding invitation, I’ll attend,” Cynthia said.
She turned to get her bag and started to leave. Jonathan caught up with her, grabbing her arm. Something was suppressed in his eyes. He held her tightly, as if she would disappear if he let go.
“I’ll finish packing your things. You can ask Mr. Gaston to pick them up,” Cynthia added calmly. “From now on, we don’t have to meet unless necessary.”
Jonathan wanted to say something, but he noticed a shadowy figure staring at him from a second-floor corridor. He gritted his teeth and said, “Okay. Since you’ve made up your mind, let’s separate.” He released Cynthia’s hand.
“Since you have someone you love, why did you come to me? Is it because you’re lonely and want to satisfy your physical needs?” Cynthia asked.
Jonathan’s expression returned to its typical coldness, but his face was pale. His voice was calm and indifferent. “Since you said we don’t talk about feelings and just want to have fun, why do you need to know this now?”
Cynthia smiled, relieved. “I was a little worried you’d fallen in love with me. That would have been troublesome, but now I think it’s great. Farewell, Pretty Boy.” She casually rubbed her hands, waved goodbye, and left.
Naomi was waiting outside. “How did it go? Did you say goodbye?”
Cynthia took a deep breath. “I said what I needed to say.” She hooked her arm around Naomi’s shoulder. “We’ve put this trouble behind us, and I think it calls for a celebration. Come on. Let me treat you to barbecue.”
She ate a lot that night. It was so delicious she cried. Naomi sighed internally. Cynthia was still taking it seriously, but she knew Cynthia was aware.
The Bennett family was like a deep lake; whoever stepped into its depths would drown. She didn’t want Cynthia involved with them.
Cynthia spent two days in Betrico before returning to Roncrity. Life resumed its usual pace. She went to work and came home every day. The only difference was that Jonathan was no longer in Greenfield Villa. She eventually sent Jonathan a message, telling him to collect his belongings. She packed his things and deleted his contact information.
However, Jonathan didn’t send anyone. She put his luggage in the storage room. The villa felt much emptier.
The house was originally intended as a gift for Jonathan, but his true identity was revealed before the transfer could be completed.

Chapter 103
Naturally, they never touched the paperwork again. Cynthia remained the owner of Greenfield Villa.

Cynthia wasn’t sleeping well, so she took more sleeping pills. However, there was good news. The Sullivan family planned to build a new car factory in Roncrity, so Naomi would move there as the person in charge. They could live together again. This was great news for Cynthia.
Half a month passed.
The retrial of Rachel’s case was announced. The incident caused a sensation because the case was ruled as excessive self-defense, and she was acquitted. New evidence emerged in the second trial, and Rachel’s adopted daughter testified.
Cynthia knew this was largely due to the Bennett Group’s legal team. She expected a reduced sentence, but not an acquittal.
Cynthia planned to have Sophia tell Selena about the trial. Selena watched Shirley testify and witnessed Rachel’s acquittal. As Shirley left the courthouse, Selena slapped her.
Shirley was stunned. She’d been with the Jones family for three years, receiving everything she wanted. She knew Selena felt guilty and wanted to make amends. She knew testifying might upset Selena, but she didn’t expect such a reaction.
“Shirley, since you’re so worried about your mother, go be her daughter,” Selena said.
Shirley froze. “Mom, I’m your daughter. You’re the only mother I have. Please don’t abandon me.”
Shirley panicked at Selena’s indifferent expression. Selena had never been so cold.
“Since you only recognize me as your mother, why did you testify? You know Rachel and I have an irreconcilable grudge. Her mother seduced my father, drove my mother to death, and almost ruined our family. She swapped my child. I’ll never forgive her,” Selena said.
“Someone like her should die in prison. But you, my own daughter, gave false testimony and let that bitch get acquitted.” Selena looked at Shirley with sadness and anger. “Shirley, you’ve disappointed me.”
Shirley was flustered. “Mom, it’s not like that.”
Cynthia walked over. “Yeah, Shirley. How can you perjure yourself in court?”
