Chapter 298
Filip sensed something was wrong. He stood and hurried over. "What's going on?"
Jonathan frowned. "The door is locked." Filip tried the door several times but couldn't open it.
Jonathan said, "Stop. Someone locked it from the outside. We can't open it from inside."
"I'll call Wallace," Filip said.
He tried to call, but couldn't get through. Jonathan checked his phone; there was no signal.
Filip was baffled. "What's going on here?"
Jonathan explained, "Someone must have installed a signal jammer. There's no signal in this room."
Filip was puzzled. "Who would do this, and why?"
Suddenly, Jonathan remembered something. He turned and asked, "Did Lilian ask you to give me this diary?"
Filip was surprised. "How did you know?"
Jonathan immediately understood. Lilian hadn't given Filip the diary to disrupt his marriage; she wanted to trap them both.
Jonathan laughed, finding the irony amusing. Filip remained clueless.
"Your bride doesn't want you at the wedding she carefully planned," Jonathan said.
Filip was stunned. After a moment, he regained his composure. "Lilian used me again!" he shouted angrily. "She tricked me!"
He paced, muttering, "What is she really up to?" He couldn't understand. Did Lilian trap me here just for a ceremonial spectacle? Or is there a bigger scheme? he thought. No, it couldn't be. She wouldn't expose that secret—she swore it to me. It was a secret we were to take to our graves. Besides, the baby hasn't been born yet. She cares too much about the baby to act recklessly. So there's only one possibility: she wants a wedding with him, even if it's self-deception.
Then another thought struck him. Why would Jonathan say that? How did he know Lilian didn't want me at the wedding?
He looked at Jonathan, shocked. "So you knew too?"
Jonathan replied calmly, "I was guessing, but now I'm sure."
"How did you figure it out?" Filip asked.
"Don't you think the way she looks at Cynthia is the same way we look at Cynthia?" Jonathan replied. "Full of ambition, possessiveness, and often jealousy. I thought she was jealous of Cynthia, but it turns out she was jealous of the man by Cynthia's side."

Jonathan said coldly, "I didn't expect we were both played by Lilian."
They tried to escape. The door was reinforced, impossible to open from the inside. The lounge had no windows, only walls. Escape without outside help was impossible. Since Lilian planned this, someone was guarding the door.
Meanwhile, the wedding was underway, but the groom was absent. The wedding planner was frantic, sending people to search. Henry and Pamela were anxious. "The ceremony is about to start, and where is that jerk, Filip?" they wondered.
It was like three years ago—Filip had bailed at the last minute, leaving Cynthia to handle everything alone. Luckily, Cynthia was composed and confident, handling the situation gracefully. Everyone felt sorry for her and criticized Filip's unreliability.
Pamela thought, Did Filip have second thoughts again? He insisted on marrying Lilian and demanded a grand wedding. Now, all of Roncrity's wealthy and powerful figures are here. Another mishap, and the Yates family's reputation will be ruined! She was furious and sent more people to find him.
Even the venue's security guards searched. But someone was waiting outside the lounge. Whenever anyone approached, he'd claim no one was inside.
Whispers filled the banquet hall. Cynthia was on the phone with Jonathan, who had stepped out and hadn't returned. His phone was unreachable. She was worried.
Shirley, dressed elegantly, sat quietly with Cynthia. Selena hadn't wanted her there, but Shirley had arrived uninvited and caused a scene at the entrance before being reluctantly allowed inside. Once inside, she was quiet and composed, occasionally texting on her phone.
Selena was relieved Shirley wasn't causing trouble. Shirley watched, thinking this was the perfect day. Jonathan was absent; Filip had vanished; and the Yates family's security was searching for him.

The scene was chaotic, security weak. Shirley felt smug; the muddier the water, the easier to catch big fish. She called someone, whispering, "Are you there yet?"
