Chapter 345
Perhaps Milena had planned this all along. Despite it being the dead of night, she was the only one there when they arrived at the Yurchenko familyโs residence.
โMy parents are out of town, and my brotherโs tied up with work at the office, so he didnโt come home. I trust you donโt mind that Iโm here all by myself?โ Milena said with a smile, sitting in the living room in her bathrobe.
She didnโt reveal the slightest surprise at Aubreeโs arrival.
Aubree fumed. It was obvious it was her doing.
Aubreeโs anger flared up instantly. She lunged forward and grabbed Milena. โWhereโs Birgitte?โ
โBirgitte? Who?โ Milena asked, feigning innocence.
Aubree ground her teeth. It had been nearly twelve hours since Birgitte disappeared. Of course, she was frantic. All rationality vanished. Her other hand clenched into a fist, ready to swing, but Bowen caught her just in time.
โEasy now. The team is almost in position,โ Bowen whispered in her ear.
If they laid a hand on Milena now, theyโd be handing her the perfect weapon against them. If they got held back again, things would really get difficult.
Aubree steadied herself. She vowed that the Yurchenko family would pay for this.
Milena watched Aubreeโs helpless fury with smug satisfaction, laughing until tears welled up in her eyes. โOh, arenโt you the impressive one? You managed to pry Trevor away from me, so why donโt you work your magic to find Birgitte?
โOh, it suddenly occurred to me. Your companyโs CEO is called Birgitte, right? Since Iโm older, let me play the elder sister for a moment and give you some advice. Next time, do your homework before hiring anyone. Her name isnโt Birgitte but Birdie.โ
Aubreeโs eyes burned crimson, streaked with furious, bloodshot veins, making her look utterly terrifying.
Aubree had her people track the Cherniavsky familyโs movements the moment she realized something was wrong, but Milena had concealed Birgitte far too well. Normally, she could afford to be patient, but not now. Every passing minute meant greater danger for Birgitte.
Aubree closed her eyes briefly. โProceed with the standard questioning.โ
The accompanying police officers began questioning Milena as per procedure. She crossed her legs and retorted, โHow would I know?
โDavin Waldron owns the club. You should ask him. With hundreds of people coming and going every single day, who knows who she might have crossed?โ
Milena was sure Aubree had no solid evidence and merely brought the police here to intimidate her.
Aubree chewed on her finger nervously, glancing over at Bowen. He was engrossed in his phone. When he looked up, he gave her a nod to let her know theyโd pulled it off.
Aubree felt a heavy weight lifted from her chest. Moments later, the roar of an engine and the screech of tires pierced the air outside, followed by rapid, pounding footsteps. A voice sounded. โWhereโs Milena?โ
Before the housekeeper could respond, Quantavius stormed up to Milena and, without warning, slapped her hard across the face. โWhat the hell are you doing?โ
โQuantavius?โ Milena was utterly dazed as the slap sent her sprawling to the floor. โWhy did you hit me?โ
Quantavius let out an angry laugh. โWhy did I hit you? Do you want to take a look at our familyโs latest stock performance?โ
It dawned on Milena that sheโd crossed Aubree, and she knew Bowen had Aubreeโs back.
However, Milena had it all planned out. With Birgitte in her hands, she had the upper hand. When she had revelled enough in watching Aubree humiliate herself, sheโd make Aubree beg her before sheโd tell them where Birgitte was.
After all, Birgitte was just some hired help. There was no way Aubree would go all out for her. Worst case, theyโd have a falling out, but that was hardly a big deal.
