Chapter 585
Trevor was hit with a wave of mixed emotionsโrelief that he was fine, and crushing sorrow when he realized just how much Aubree, the sister heโd been desperate to win back, truly hated him. She hadnโt just ruined his career; she wanted to ruin his life, too.
Trevor laughed, clutching his medical report. His laughter was crazed, spiraling into something twisted and almost sinister.
Bryan just stood there, watching him with cold, detached eyes. Once Trevor had finally worn himself out, Bryan spoke up. โAubree is back from Mistmere.โ
โBryan, lend me a couple of guys,โ Trevor said.
โWhat are you planning to do?โ Bryan frowned.
Trevor straightened up, tilting his head slightly. His brown eyes glinted with an icy, chilling light. โNothing much. Itโs just been far too long since I saw Aubree. I think itโs time we have a little reunion.โ
โHe wants to see Aubree?โ Bryan considered it for a second, decided it probably wouldnโt lead to any real trouble, and nodded his approval.
โThanks, Bryan.โ
Trevor planned to look for Aubree. By the time he left the hospital, it was already late at night. He wasnโt sure if heโd even be able to see her at this hour, but he was determined to go anyway.
After leaving the hospital, he found a nearby hotel to freshen up. Then, with the two guys Bryan had lent him, he headed straight for Aubreeโs place.
Luck was on his side. He arrived just as Aubree was getting back from work.
From the car window, Trevor watched as Aubree, whom he used to ignore without a second glance, slowly walked closer. He realized heโd never really taken a good look at her until now.
She wasnโt tall, probably thanks to all those years of not getting enough to eat. As for her looks, that was never an issue; nobody in the Wilson family was ever ugly.
Heโd let her down before. But from now on, he was going to make it right.
When Aubree approached, Trevor got out of the car with his two bodyguards in tow.
Aubree paused, instantly on guard. When she realized it was Trevor, her eyes widened in surprise. Sheโd thought heโd be holed up somewhere at a time like this.
โAubree, itโs been a while,โ Trevor said. Even though he still looked a bit rough around the edges, that face of his was still a total knockout.
Standing under the streetlight, he flashed her a small smile. Putting all their grudges aside, Aubree had to admit that if Trevor showed up like this in front of anyone else, heโd have people screaming over his looks.
โYeah, itโs been a while. Honestly, I wish it couldโve been even longer,โ Aubree replied. As she stared at him, she noticed the dark circles under his eyes. It seemed that Trevor wasnโt exactly unaffected.
Still, even if Trevor did fall for it, there was always someone in the Wilson family whoโd step forward and look after him.
โSo? Did you come here tonight to settle the score with me?โ Aubree asked, arching an eyebrow.
โOf course not. Youโre my only sister. How could I ever do something like that to you?โ
Trevor really wasnโt like the others. As a celebrity, heโd heard every insult and snide remark imaginable. Mockery and hate were just part of his daily life. Aubreeโs little jabs werenโt nearly enough to get a rise out of him.
โAubree, everyone messes up sometimes. Why canโt you forgive me? I admit, I never saw how good you were to me before, and I took it all for granted. Canโt you give me just one more chance?โ Trevor said.
โGive him one more chance?โ Aubree scoffed inwardly. โBut when did anyone ever give me a chance?โ
Aubreeโs hands slowly curled into fists at her sides. If she hadnโt gotten to live her life over again, who knew where sheโd be now. She would probably be dead and rotting under some bridge, her body stinking, and no one even noticing.
โThey want me to give them another chance? Back in the other timeline, did any of them ever give me a chance?โ she thought bitterly.
โGive you a chance? Back when I was in the Wilson family, getting framed by Carmen, going hungry, getting beaten and punished, who gave me a chance then?โ Aubree demanded.
Her accusations hit Trevor right in the heart, striking a nerve.
