Chapter 587
Aubree tried to see who it was, but Trevor noticed and reached over, turning her face back toward him. โRemember, youโre a Wilson.โ
His words came out of nowhere, catching her off guard. She watched Trevorโs face, then the Wilson familyโs mansion. โWe donโt have the same last name, and I donโt have any inheritance rights. How am I considered a part of the Wilson family?โ
โTrevor, the only person whoโd come looking for me this late, see me getting dragged off by you, and then tail you so relentlesslyโmaking you pull that expressionโhas to be Bowen, right? What, are you jealous of him?โ
Trevorโs expression faltered for a split second, but then he just shrugged and smiled. โWhatโs there about him for me to be jealous of?โ
Aubree pointed at herself. โMe.โ
โTrevor, youโre the third son in the family. You have two outstanding older brothers, and aside from your good looks, you canโt measure up to Bryan and the others when it comes to talent. So, compared to them, you werenโt held in high regard,โ Aubree said.
โWhen you were a kid, Alice and Ronald were both at the peak of their careers, so you never got the kind of parental love that most kids take for granted. Then, when you grew up and entered showbiz, people tried to butter you up because of your status, but you never got any real sincerity from anyone, not even from your own family.
โThen I showed up. I treated you well, but at first, you tossed my kindness aside like it was nothing. Now that Iโve taken it all back, you regret it and want it from me again.
โBut you realized that what you desperately want but canโt get, Bowen got it effortlessly. And what I give him is completely different from what I ever gave anyone in the Wilson family. Itโs one of a kind, just for him. Thatโs why youโre jealous of him.โ
Trevorโs deepest desires and wounds were ripped open by Aubreeโs words, and he couldnโt help but lower his head in embarrassment.
โNo matter what you say, thereโs no way Iโm letting you go,โ Trevor said.
Aubree just shrugged it off. Now that she knew Bowen was tailing them, she could finally relax.
โWhen disaster strikes, isnโt it always the tall guy who takes the fall first?โ she thought. โBowen is so much taller than I am. If anything comes crashing down, itโll hit him, not me.โ
Neither of them said another word for the rest of the ride.
Back at the Wilson familyโs mansion, the butler had just gotten off the phone with Trevor. Every time Trevor specifically asked if Carmen was home, it usually meant trouble was brewing.
With a frown, he went upstairs and knocked on Carmenโs door. โMiss Wilson, Mr. Trevor Wilson just called. I think that no matter what it is, youโd better ask Mrs. Wilson if she can come home.โ
Aubree spent the whole ride with her eyes closed, pretending to nap, but she could tell when the car finally came to a stop.
After getting out of the car, Aubree kept her face cold and expressionless as she spoke. โWeโre already here. Itโs not like I can run off now, so thereโs no need for the bodyguards to keep holding onto me, right?โ
Trevor just smiled. โOf course. Youโre coming home, not being thrown in jail.โ
He reached out and gripped Aubreeโs hand firmly. โAubree, Iโm bringing you home.โ
Aubree knew there was no way she could break free, so she didnโt bother wasting her energy. Besides, it wasnโt like letting him hold her hand was going to kill her.
Trevor was so excited that his heart was pounding just like the first time heโd won a Best Actor award.
Chapter 587
If it hadnโt been for Carmen, he couldโve had a little sister who truly idolized him. He wouldโve protected her, gotten her on shows, and made her the nationโs sweetheart in the eyes of the fans.
However, he was sure he wouldnโt have to wait long. For all he knew, as soon as Carmen apologized to Aubree, Aubree might just forgive him on the spot.
After all, from the surface, it wasnโt like heโd actually done anything.
With hope still burning in his chest, Trevor walked Aubree right through the doors of the Wilson familyโs mansion.
