Chapter 591

Without even glancing at Trevor, Alice stormed straight up to Aubree, jabbed a finger at her, and cursed, โ€œHow could you be so vicious? Didnโ€™t you say you never wanted to come back here? You acted like you had a spine, but now that you think your brothers and dad are on your side, you come back just to pick on Carmen? The fact that youโ€™re my daughter makes me sick to my stomach.โ€

โ€˜Here we go again,โ€™ Aubree thought. Her eyes went ice-cold, feeling a bitter sense of dรฉjร  vu. Alice was making the same old baseless accusations, just like always, never caring who was actually at fault.

โ€˜Too bad for them, Iโ€™m not the same Aubree who used to let them walk all over me anymore,โ€™ Aubree told herself inwardly.

โ€œYou actually got one thing right,โ€ Aubree said. โ€œYeah, Iโ€™ve grown a pair.โ€ Before Alice could even react, Aubree grabbed the finger Alice was pointing at her with and bent it back hard.

โ€œOw!โ€ Alice never expected Aubree would dare fight back in the Wilson familyโ€™s mansion. She was totally unprepared. Her face went pale with pain, eyes wide in shock.

Aubree only tightened her grip, making Alice instinctively try to yank her hand back. โ€œNext time you point at me, Iโ€™ll snap your finger right off.โ€

With that warning, Aubree gave Alice a hard shove to the side, knocking her straight to the ground. Alice clutched her finger, her face pale and lips trembling. She looked up at Aubree as if she were a stranger, like she were seeing her for the very first time.

โ€œAubree, how dare you lay a hand on me!โ€ Alice screamed.

Aubree let out a cold laugh. โ€œI already did, didnโ€™t I? Why even ask? Do you want me to show you again?โ€

Alice shrank back, certain that Aubree wasnโ€™t just making empty threats.

Now that both Daxton and Alice were back, Aubree could only sigh in disappointment. It looked like there wouldnโ€™t be any real drama tonight after all. Sheโ€™d actually been a little curious to see just how far Trevor was willing to go.

Trevor moved his lips, planning to just let Aubree rest for now. He was a man of his word. Even if he couldnโ€™t make Carmen suffer the way Aubree once did tonight, heโ€™d just find another chance later.

Just as he was about to speak, Ronald, who had been silent this whole time, suddenly said, โ€œWhy is dinner taking so long tonight?โ€

Carmenโ€™s eyes widened in disbelief as she looked at Ronald. โ€œDad.โ€

Ronald ignored her and turned to the butler. โ€œIf itโ€™s not ready yet, just bring out whateverโ€™s done. She can eat while she waits. Itโ€™s not like sheโ€™ll be able to finish it all anyway.โ€

Out of the corner of his eye, Ronald glanced at Alice. Heโ€™d found out a lot about her past lately, such as how she ran away from their marriage years ago, and had a daughter with another man, who later remarried and started a new family. He still couldnโ€™t be sure if Carmen was Aliceโ€™s daughter with that man or something else. However, he wanted to see just how much Alice really cared about Carmen. He wondered if she would actually turn against him for Carmenโ€™s sake.

Today was the perfect opportunity. He could make Aubree happy, win her over, and also see how much Alice cared about Carmen. As for Carmen, sheโ€™d just have to put up with a little grievance.

โ€œDad, whatโ€™s the point of eating so late?โ€ Daxton asked, noticing that Carmen was still trembling in his arms.

Trevor let out a cold laugh. โ€œThanks to Carmen, Aubree barely ever got a full meal at home before. So tonight, weโ€™ll let Carmenโ€ฆโ€

Alice didnโ€™t even care about the pain anymore. โ€œNo way. If anyone dares lay a hand on Carmen, theyโ€™ll have to deal with me.โ€

She planted herself in front of Carmen, shielding Carmen with her own body.

Ronaldโ€™s expression darkened. โ€œSo, even if I divorce you, youโ€™re still going to protect her?โ€

Normally, Alice would have picked up on the threat in Ronaldโ€™s words, but right now, all she could think about was how sheโ€™d already lost her daughter once and lost Xander forever. She couldnโ€™t let her daughter get hurt again.

โ€œYes, even if we get divorced, I wonโ€™t let you hurt Carmen,โ€ Alice said firmly.

Ronald smiled, but his eyes were as toxic as if dipped in venom. Even though he didnโ€™t have all the evidence yet, he was almost positive that Carmen was the bastard Alice had after running away from their marriage.

โ€œGood, very good,โ€ he said.
