Chapter 607
This time, Bowen didnโt give her any room to take the lead. Even with Aubree on top, the moment their lips met, he took control without hesitation, flipping their positions in an instant.
By the end, both of them were drenched in sweat again. Aubree shot Bowen a look and said, โSo much for that shower, huh? It was pointless.โ
Sheโd only just discovered that the thin straps on her slip dress werenโt just for looksโthey had a practical purpose too. One quick tug, and the whole thing came undone. It was almost too convenient.
Bowen chuckled in response, โItโs fine. I can afford the water bill.โ
โIs that really what youโre worried about?โ Aubree thought, rolling her eyes.
She stopped trying to argue with him; she was exhausted and just wanted to sleep. Before heading to bed, she quickly checked her phone and was shocked to discover that the situation with her and Bowen had gone viral on social media and was trending.
Earlier, while having dinner with Bowen, they had seen a post about it, but it hadnโt seemed like a big deal at the time. She didnโt feel like stepping in to clarify anything about the tabloid stories, so she decided to ignore them. Who would have thought it would blow up like this?
As Aubree clicked to look deeper, she realized it wasnโt the original post that was grabbing all the attention. Instead, it was a bloggerโs so-called โanalysisโ that had gone viral.
The blogger suggested that her relationship with Bowen was purely a business agreement from the start.
Now that her company, Bree Technology, was doing well and Bowen had his investment sorted, both were free to go their separate ways and pursue their interests. Aubree dismissed the bloggerโs claims as nonsense.
What caught her eye, though, was an intern who was suddenly very active in the comments, appearing everywhere on the major bloggersโ posts.
โWho is this intern, anyway?โ Aubree wondered.
It was strange, but no one ever seemed to mention the internโs name. People on marketing accounts and in the comments only referred to this person as someone working as an assistant at Turner Group.
Bowenโs principal assistant was Kelvin, and the other assistants were part of the Presidentโs Office, which was overseen by Kelvin.
Aubree had hardly ever visited Turner Group herself.
She thought, โEven if this is some kind of trap, I need to check it out for myself. I have to understand whatโs going on behind the scenes.โ
She kept her plans to visit the office a secret from Bowen. The next day, after finishing her work, Aubree let Vincent leave work early and drove to the Turner Group building.
The receptionist recognized her immediately! At first, the usual friendly smile slipped a bit as she was surprised to see Aubree. Seeing Aubree made the receptionist think of the intern who had been trending online lately.
โWow, the official girlfriend is here to catch the mistress!โ she thought.
The phrase โcatch the mistressโ flashed through the receptionistโs mind. If it werenโt for her job, she would have loved to join in on the action. She may be a woman, but she was tough, and she could easily help tackle someone if needed. And if worse came to worst, she could always be the one to kick down a door.
It wasnโt just the receptionist; everyone in the lobby stopped what they were doing as soon as they noticed Aubree.
With a confident flip of her hair, she approached the reception desk and asked, โExcuse me, can I go in?โ
โOf course!โ The receptionist nodded enthusiastically, almost as if trying to make a hole in her desk with her head. โEven if it wasnโt permitted, it had to be for Miss Miller!โ she thought.
โThanks!โ Aubree replied with a bright smile. โAnd by the way, what floor is the Presidentโs Office on?โ
The receptionistโs eyes lit up with realization. She quickly grew frustrated with herself for not being able to see what was about to happen. โThe Presidentโs Office is on the 35th floor. Oh, and Miss Miller, I actually know the name of that intern everyoneโs talking about online."
โHer name is Jacinta Melrose. Sheโs a sophomore intern who was brought in from Rithol University,โ the receptionist shared.
โThanks!โ Aubree said again.
After another quick thank you, she hopped into the elevator and headed straight to the 35th floor.
News spread quickly that she was on her way. Kelvin, who had been slacking off and hanging out in the company chat group, was so surprised when he heard the news that he spat out his coffee.
As the top assistant, he immediately messaged Bowen to inform him.
